I was racing with a few guys from Race2Play last night using rFactor ORR2 mod when I had an idea. I wanted to see if anyone else is interested. My idea is to have a "Driver's Championship" that would incorporate many of the rFactor mods, and GTR2 as well. I enjoy the variety available with these games immensely, and would like to take better advantage of this. Would anyone be interested in taking part in a championship that uses different mods each week? One race per week, and we could keep our own points to make a season. One problem with this of course would be that everyone would have to have the mods and tracks needed. But I think a lot of people here already have massive amounts of mods and tracks. An example schedule might be (by week): ORR2
We could have a democracy (to some extent) for the choices of mods and tracks. I would like to use some unusual tracks as well, maybe some HOF tracks from Rfactorcental.com? Anyway, just an idea that popped into my head. Add comments to this blog if interested. Thanks. PS: I do not want to infringe on Race2Play scheduling at all or anything, these would be just weekly planned races at a set time. Ryan Robbins

Ryan,
Maybe a series where you take the best 8 of 10 results say, so for those without a particular sim would not get penalised.
Throw in some WOO sprint cars and I`m there.
Hmm, interesting idea to take 8 out of 10 results. A round of sprint car racing would be fun also. I do not have that mod yet, maybe I should give it a try soon. I have not been playing rFactor for very long, but I am doing a lot of downloading (a mod every few days it seems).
Interesting idea, but I thought maybe it should be taken a step further. Why dont R2P have a drivers champion taken from the points we get for any race we enter. Guy with the most points at the end of the season from all the events he entered is the winner and therefore the Drivers Champion for that season.
Could see that working alongside the present ranking system Allen, as an overall points table. But the idea of a multimod/sim series still stands on its own I think, for those like me who attempt to be average at everything LOL
I agree with Nick's last comment wholeheartedly. A championship involving multiple mods would even the field some I think, because some people may be great on some mods, but not as experienced on others. Sounds like a lot of fun to me, but I am not sure that my schedule would work for anyone. |
