After last nights testing I left the server pondering a dilemma, and I am hoping somebody could shed some light on a fix, theory or cancel my subscription to R2P ;-) I am 43, by all reasons I either should be dead & buried or moving onto the old crap people do when they get old in life, but why is it in Sim Racing I can be fairly competitive in high horsepower cars, meaning the 550 which isn't easy to be fast in, the Historic 79's where i am a regular at top 5 finishes, show up for an occasional F1-2005 and finish in the top 5, Run Champ Car and have lap times w/i the top five, ran a season in the G2's with Connor, Samuel and Barry and finished 4 in standings but yet when I get to the Porsche I really should be a spectator, not driver. Is this the case of I have found my limits or??? Comments or theories on this??? or you can just throw the tequila and bud light bottles and hope they hit me ;-) |
Probably just down to driving style. Lower HP cars need to be driven smoother and in a manner that scrubs off as little speed as possible - cos it takes forever to get it back again!
Yep, I agree with Pete. "Momentum" driving is what is required for lower HP cars. Keeping your speed up is key. Use all the road and as little of the steering wheel and brakes as possible. With higher powered cars you can rely on the power of the car to compensate for all the minor driver errors. In lower powered cars, the power isnt there so each and every tiny little mistake is displayed for all to see.
What they are trying to say Jeff... Is that you suck!!
| ||
I have this same problem Jeff, but i'm more competitive in the low hp cars then the high hp ones. I'm decent at carrying my speed which helps me be competitive in the low hp cars. I can't figure out how to be fast in the fastest cars.. LOL
meaning the 550 which isn't easy to be fast in riiiiiiiiiiiiiight..... uh huh.... yeeeaaahhh.... :P I'm kinda in the same boat, but its a little different for me. I prefer higher HP cars in GTR but prefer lower HP cars in rFactor. Must be a grip level factor for me. In your case, its just probably part of the driving style. You'll probably just need a little more time in the lower HP cars to get used to 'em.
Swapping over from Low To Hi is pretty dificult for most I assume *cue Scoots retort* I struggle to go between the 2 and going from rfactor to GTR2 and vica versa is even worse.
The GTR1 was a bitch to drive apparently... something about its power band in low revs? Anway what do I care.. its a POS car :)
POS car my ass. :p Craig, get real. ;) It had sudden burst of high power and in combination with funky low speed grip it was a bit tricky to drive. Swapping between sims and high hp to low hp cars don't bother me at all lately. I just hate slow cars, not exciting.
I find that in higher powered cars you have to be smoother. You sacrifice agression in braking and entry to get a perfect exit line. In the low powered cars it's all about who can brake late and turn in viciously and stomp on the gas as easly as possible. You have to be smooth for sure, but if you screw up it just costs you time. In a car with some balls, when you screw up you end up backwards in the wall. :)
Simple....GTR1/2 sucks. Btw, was this for you to gripe or tell us how great you are in everything else?
Go clean your gutters LOL!!! No, I suck, and wanting to improve *sticks tongue out* |
