Race report
GP of Long Beach on Apr 12, 2007
Car: '79 Ferrari. Class: Formula 1 '79. Start: 10. Finish: 5. Laps: 30.

I got a setup from the fastest Ferrari in practice. It felt... silly, so I developed my own based on it. Am I right in assuming that the physics can be exploited somewhat in the setups? The one I received handled like it was designed for another planet!

Quali was a disaster. I ended up 10th on the grid, having not got in a decent lap.

The race, however, was much better for me. I knew I had pace I hadn't been able to unlock in quali, so I was quietly confident. I went from 10th to 3rd in the opening lap or two but I was pretty much out of my depth from that point on. Being so inexperienced I soon came under pressure. I damaged my suspension pushing to keep up with the front runners, which made the rest of my race more like a drift event. I lost heaps of time coping with the damage and I even spun at one point. I had a chance at 4th near the end but he defended well and I was forced to settle for 5th.

I'll definitely look into doing the next round. I really enjoyed the challenge new cars, new tracks and new people presented. LFS has become a bit mundane as of late, lacking in all three.
