Firstly, congratulations to Pelle for a great race. You have to be there at the end to take advantage of other people's mistakes, and Pelle was. Nicely done Pelle, I really enjoyed our racing mid-race.
Qual - I never got a completely clean lap and stuffed it into the wall once. I just barely pipped Barry for pole (0.009) and got lucky that the time stuck. I know he was capable of running faster... whew.
Race - First laps went flawlessly. I drove easy to start, letting the top-5 gain on me until we were all in a group, then cranked on the boost and built up a gap while they fought with each other. Barry kept me honest, never dropping more than 2 seconds back. It wasn't until my planned pit stop that I distracted myself on the back straight and mashed up the front wing. Luckily I was already set to pit, but it still cost me nearly 20 seconds. I spent my entire 2nd stint running qual laps to catch back up to Pelle where we had an amazing fight for position before he had a spin in T1 giving me the lead. Second pit stop went well, but with only a few laps togo I distracted myself again (thinking about the win!) and mashed the front wing off again. A forced 3rd pit stop and I finish in 2nd position.
PS - Sorry Barry, I think I chopped you off at the hairpin on the start. I was "diamond-ing" the corner and I think you went for a conventional line. I'm not sure if I made contact or not.
PSS - Damn you Barry, I was going for fastest lap of the race, got you with 2 laps togo in race, then you took it back on last lap!
Lappers... great work today. I think there was once or twice where we had a miscommunication, but otherwise you guys were really great. I appreciate it and I tried not to harass any of you either.
