Wrecked myself right out of another championship, on Lap 2 no less. I think that I have better luck when I just show up and drive instead of practicing for these things. Of course, it's kind of hard to practice without traffic, and then expect the car to do what you want it to once the air is spoiled in traffic. All that solo practice is worthless. At least I was able to finish on the lead lap.
Grats to Luis!

Defintely not the result I needed. I thought that when I found 2.5 secs in practice, that I'd actually have something to bring to the battle. But, you guys were so fast!! The only time I was able to gain positions was on the restarts on cold tires. I was able to keep the throttle matted on the restarts, while most everyone else has to wait for their tires to come to them. But once the laps ran on, I went back in line. I noticed many guys running the outside groove, which I just didnt practice, so I just couldn't get it to work for me. I basically just had to ride around and stay out of trouble and grab as many points as I could.
It was great to see a good sized field for this one. Hope to top the number of entries at the next event in Michigan.
Grats to Rob!

Let us commence with the ball-busting, shall we?? (which I'm very good at BTW, and I'm sure my teammates can vouch for)...
Pathetic is a good word for it Conor. I couldn't be pissed off though, because some of the stuff I saw was so fking hilarious and made me laugh so hard!! Like 1 driver that passed the whole line of cars under yellow, just to get a penalty and have to hit pitlane and not get the lap back that I can only assume he was trying to cheat everyone out of (??). Then that same driver did that again! HAHA And guys entering a closed pit repeatedly??? Funny shit!! CMON NOW! How hard can this caution flag stuff be to understand...we arent splitting atoms here. :) And of course, we had the guys that dont like to work with other cars in the draft, and tried to slingshot by 2 and 3 cars at a time like it's that last lap of the event, instead of being patient and trying to work together with the drivers that were trying to do it correctly. Many good cars were taken out and/or damaged, and I don't think that some of those drivers are laughing like me.
There's a couple of rules in ARAIG that should be introduced to this event next year. Mainly, the 2 cautions caused means you have to park it rule, and the no passing until after T1 rule. I believe these 2 rules should be a part of all oval racing at R2P.
On the other hand, Andy took the race for CT RACING!! My race was skewed when I had to dodge someone that bounced off of the T3 wall and shot back to the inside. I went outside to avoid, but coming into T4, I hit a spinning Kevin through no fault of his own that left me nowhere to go, and that put me on my roll hoop. My top speed after that was only 215MPH. But at least I finished.
Not everyone was a numb-skull. There were quite a few courteous drivers that I saw. Thanks to Ken Jagger for towing me around towards the end of the race as I was slow on my own. It was nice to start seeing 220MPH again. And for others, thanks for the chuckles LOL
Grats Andy! That's 2 wins for CT Racing since R2P started running these events here at Indy on Memorial Day weekend. Great job bro!
At the end of the day though, I still had a ball with you all!

What a dumb ass! I can't believe I forgot to select a right side tire change only in the pitboard on my 1st stop. I was pretty strong in the draft, and most of the time I was only at half throttle. I many times even had to get completely out of the throttle to not run into the guys in front of me. I couldn't understand why everyone was getting so bunched up in the exit of T2?? There was no way to get a run on the leaders with that happeneing, so I just decided to cruise in the draft and wait. The fuel started to burn off and I radioed to Andy to see what he had left. He was quite a bit short compared to me, but I figured to pit with Andy to keep the draft going with him, even though I could have made it to halfway with the fuel I managed to conserve. But he and Luis pitted with the proper instructions to the crew (right sides only I presume?), and I was still up on the jack when they exitted the pits. My race was done right there. With no one to draft with, I just rode around the whole rest of the event by myself. Fuel was tight for many guys at the end, and most of us had to take a splash of fuel to make it to the end, but none of that helped my cause.
Grats to Andy, nice win!

I knew by doing some laps mid-week that the first thing I needed to do to my car to be competitive was to ditch the sticker tires and install scuffs as soon as I possibly could. I did that during the first early caution. Continuing on, I saved my tires as best I could, and towards the end of that stint I was gaining on and passing the cars in front of me for position. So at the next pit stop, I did the same exact thing, as well as topped off the fuel to make it to the end, and came out in pretty good shape. But for whatever reason, this set of scuffs either didnt perform nearly as good as the first set, or I did something to kill the grip in them, or it was the "live track" changing, because I was way off of the pace. Not to mention, tagging the wall halfway through the stint trying to catch up didn't help matters. I was relegated to driving for as many points as possible at this point, and really just tried to stay on the lead lap, waiting for a caution that never came. Points were key though, and 5 extra for leading a lap helped me keep a solid 3rd place in the championship.
Grats to Justin! Great drive. Everyone up front battling with Justin was sounding like they were out of breath on TS. Nice way to dominate, and nice tribute to your Mom at the end Justin.

From the back of the pack to a P4 result is fine by me. Too many things were happening in the week leading up to this event to find the time to grind out a setup. Andy did all of the heavy lifting for this one, and was nice enough to send me a setup to get me right up to speed. Although, speed wasn't the only factor at this track. Worn and over-heated brakes lead to faster tire degradation in a previous ARCA event here, so managing the brake temps while still trying to get around the track at pace was a concern. But Andy's endless warnings about the brakes is one of the factors that had me up front at the end. That, and a 2 tire change instead of four on the last pitstop under yellow which put me in the lead after pitting in P6. I tried to hang onto a podium during those final laps, but the guys that changed all 4 tires prevailed, and I would have to settle for 4th. My first career ARCA race at Martinsville wasn't a bad one after all.
Grats Les! Man, dude, I had a blast running side by side with you for the top spot for those last few laps. Clean, hard racing at Martinsville....it doesn't get any better than that.

Taking just right side scuffs on the last stop was the absolute wrong decision. I was actually trying to make sure I was going to get out of the pits before Garret and Luis, and was surprised to come out in 1st. But, it wasn't long before I was down to 5th, getting tossed aside by everyone else that took 4 tires. An incident in the final turn on the final lap is how I got back up to the podium. It aint over till its over!
Grats to Conor on his win. Sorry guys, it's my fault for inviting him!
