Race report
Delaware 150 on Jan 30, 2008
Car: BGN Monte Carlo. Class: TPSCB. Start: 14. Finish: 19. Laps: 89.

For being my first race with this group, and the first time I've driven a stock car in at least 2 years, I was pretty nervous about screwing up someone's race...but the atmosphere seemed more relaxed than I was used to seeing at R2P, and that sort of put me at ease. I kept thinking "Don't hit Escape; Don't hit Autochat" and so forth, but I was able to put it out of my mind and concentrate on racing.

Dover has always been a track where tires and patience pay off, and after hearing from David Anderson about some of the great racing that's been going on already this season I was surprised to see so many cautions, and so many cars literally right on the edge of control. Luckily I was able to miss all the early accidents, and then on Lap 88 I caught the wall out of 4 and it shot me down the track into the inside wall. I didn't think the impact was that hard, but it blew the LF tire and I tried my best to get around the track low and out of the way and get it fixed. But coming through Turn 3 the car spun into the grass and from there it wouldn't move, so instead of bringing out a caution I thought it best to just escape and get out of the way of everyone else.

That was disappointing after running in the Top 5 earlier, but from there I was able to spot for David and watch the exciting battle he had with Larry to take second place! Great run David, and a big shout out to Larry for some clean racing. There were several guys that I ran with that were great to race with, and I can't wait to run with you again next week at Michigan!

Congratulations to Dan White on his win, and here's looking for long green flag runs next week!
