Race report
GT Pro on Nov 20, 2008
GT Pro [Euro] series at Imola
Car: Corvette C6R. Class: GT Pro. Start: 10. Finish: 7. Laps: 24.

The qualifying was a bit messy for me as the track seemed damp and my back-end was too lose so it was all over the place and I never could do a decent laptime.

The race start was good again, after practising it over and over again. But because I was a bit down the field I couldn't find a good spot to overtake people and had to slow down and avoid hitting the others. Somehow a few laps later I was in a battle from 5th to 8th which I didn't expect at all. And driving behind Nathan Osman was very scary as he seemed to have a very great amount of lag and his car just looked to stop in the middle of the track about 4 times, that gave me great scares but I decided not to drive close to him and get into any trouble. A little later I braked a little too late and barely touched Nathan but luckily was able to get to the inside corner and pass him without too much trouble, but heading into the Tamburello my car was sliding a bit and I decided to brake just a little earlier and Nathan probably noticed too late and he slammed into me. After that my car had no rear-grip and I had loads of oversteer, when I finally had a better feeling about the car (still 2 seconds off my pace) I was already in 12th and last position.

I pushed as hard as I could and had some troubles along the way but it was still 25 minutes to go and I noticed I was gaining quite fast to the guy's in front of me and that gave me the boost to put in some good laps and eventualy finished 7th.

Good race after a bad start, see you all at the next event.
