Race report
NAGT Challenge on Nov 22, 2008
Car: Pontiac GTO. Class: NAGT. Start: 19. Finish: 19. Laps: 19.

Fun cars, great track, but at least in my case, require more than an evening to learn. I had hoped that after a couple hours learning the track on Thursday night I'd figure it out, but I didn't. I have got a much greater appreciation now for those drivers that get an hour of practice before the race and are top 5 finishers.

[RACE:] By lap 1 I'd climbed up to 15th - mostly after the melee in turn 3, and a few other spinners thereafter. After watching the replay I had bumped Devin (accidently) going into T3, but it looked like he caught it before getting caught in the bigger accident. By lap 6 my inexperience at the track started to show. I lost a couple positions and on the last turn had a bad spin that required repairs. I followed it up with another spin at the same corner the next lap that also required repairs. I just circulated the track and tried to stay out of everyone's way after that.

I did a post mortem Saturday morning, and after another hour of practice (and messing with the wing and dampers settings) I found another second and a half. Should've, would've, could've. Oh well... like I said above, it just increases my appreciation of the truly fast guys.
