Wow, these things were beasts! Congrats to Patrick on the impressive win lapping all but 2nd place! Congrats to my teammate too snagging 2nd and on the lead lap. Well done Daniel!
Knowing these cars were going to be a handful, my goal was to have a clean race and drive a good line each lap. I got a great start, too great actually and bumped Claudio who was sleeping at the wheel. I immediately had damage on the front wing. Uh-oh, and I haven't even made it to T1 yet.
There was confusion in T1 as expected with cars going every which way. I lost a few spots being careful and not knowing who was on my side and rear.
The first lap saw me down several spots from my start position, but after a few other offs and spins by others, I got my original spot back.
I had a nice battle with Marek but in the end, the Tyrell was no match in top end for the Ferrari. I was then behind Leonardo by a few seconds and pushed to catch him. We were running almost identical lap times and I wasn't gaining much, if anything.
Once we hit traffic, I made up a few seconds and got in his mirrors. His line started to waiver from lap to lap and he made a mistake on the fast right hander and spun handing me 4th.
There was nothing I could do to catch Daniel up the road from there and settled in doing consistent laps. I was really impressed to see Patrick lap me. Wow.
In the end, I made up a spot on Ari as the Benetton gave up the ghost on the penultimate lap. The least I could do was push him home on the cool down lap.

Yet again I was caught out by the quirks of this sim. I was out on track at qualy and was immediately shuffled to the grid for the start. Since I didn't have my fuel/tires set, I went to the pit box. When the screen for going to the pit box was up, I was sent to the grid again but the box wouldn't go away. I started the race with the box covering my screen and tried everything the first lap to make it disappear. I finally hit 'go to pit' and it put me in the pits minus 1 lap.
The fun was instantly sucked out and I spent the remainder of the race practicing hot lapping.

Another strange race from an even stranger sim for me. I'm guessing that nkpro can't figure out that when I push the clutch in it means I want to use the clutch! I use autoclutch in every other sim I've ever run (and that is a lot of sims, trust me). Whenever I push in the clutch in those, it works. I'm guessing that nkpro it's one or the other.
I almost rammed Andy at the start when I pushed the clutch and selected 1st with throttle and I launched immediately!
I knew that if I had any oversteer and had to correct it would be game over for me. Why you ask? Nkpro doesn't have enough adjustment in the steering ratio for me. So any quick wheel action REALLY is exaggerated. I had to correct exiting the last turn and it sent me straight off (90°) into the litter.
The litter. Well, apparently nkpro is designed to keep you stuck without the possibility of getting out. I finally backed up (reversed) to the edge of the grass while flooring it in 5th gear. Yes, you read that correctly. I had to go forward to go backward. Once on the edge of the grass, the car would never get up onto the grass no matter what I tried. So, game over.
I'm guessing you can't kill the motor in these cars as I ran it flat out in 5th for well over 6 laps of you guys going by.
I'll make the last event and put this sim on the shelf next to the Codemasters F1 titles and Windows ME.

Oh what might have been. I got a bit wiggly out of the last corner on lap 7 and spun sending myself to near the back. I worked my way back up to within sight of the lead pack. I just couldn't get close enough to pick up the draft otherwise it would have been different up front.
Good run AJ! Thanks Doug for putting this on!

This sim is not very user friendly! But that is to be expected your first time out. I kept getting warnings about not having enough fuel at the start. I went back to the garage and made sure it was full. I went back to the grid, pushed in the clutch, selected 1st and I was off! Somehow, between practice last night and the race this morning, my clutch got unmapped!
I got a stop/hold penalty for my efforts. On top of that I spun twice on the first lap and to finish my day, the crew did not add fuel when I pitted so I ran out at the end.
How in the heck do you add fuel?
My first impressions of this sim are not overwhelming. And I'm not a fanboy of any particular sim. This one just doesn't seem any better than the others. But, I'll keep racing with it and see what comes!

In practice, I had only been able to turn a 29.5. When I got on the server and saw everyone else's times, I was ready to resign my self to near the back.
On my one qualy lap, I had some trouble in Indianapolis which cost me a bit of time. Since the field was a bit small, I didn't worry about my time.
At the start, the right column of cars seemed to get a bad start and I made up two spots into the esses. I followed Goran and Aaron out onto Mulsanne and was surprised to find I was gaining on them. After some jockeying between the three of us, I found myself in front braking into Mulsanne corner.
From there, I never looked back. I found a great rhythm and was running the same lap times lap after lap. I had a bit of trouble in both pit stops as I have never made one before in this sim.
Thx for putting this one together Aaron!

By the off chance in practice, Rich and I figured out that we were really quick together with me pushing from the back. So we hooked up that way for qualy and the race. We wound up with the same time for qualy and were supposed to be on the front row. I immediately got a penalty at the start for not keeping up with the pace car and it looked like Rich had the same issue. I knew that was a possibility and hoofed it to catch the pace car to no avail.
This set both of us back and potentially the win as we had to push for most of the race to catch the lead pack. Once we got to them, it was difficult to get around them as they were taking the low line and the back car was all over the track. I'm not blaming him, it's difficult to keep the car straight at the back of the line.
Just before pit stops, I had a huge lag which put me back about 6s. I was able to make a quick stop and was hoping to connect with Rich again. He got a speeding penalty which left me on my own.
It looks like the top 3 cars took a long time to pit as I was able to pick up 3rd and got on the back of the 2nd place car. I pushed him hard until we caught Leandro. The top 4 battled hard the last few laps but it really came down to Leandro and myself for the top spot. I got my nose under him a few times but just couldn't get it to stick.
Boa corrida Leandro!

My race got stymied right at the start as both cars in the row in front of me didn't move when the lights turned green. I tried to go through the middle but had to back off when they both squeezed me a bit.
By this time, everyone behind me was already going past and I dropped quite a few spots before ever getting onto the banking. The front pack was already well up the road from me.
I immediately went into fuel conserve mode as I knew everyone would have to pit for a splash. This was the most difficult part of the race as it took a lot of concentration. I could see that it took me half the race to save half a lap of fuel, so I had to keep this up the entire way!
Fortunately, I was in a 3 car group with Mike up front and Rich behind me. We stayed like this for the first half of the race. Mike dropped back and Rich took over the top spot. I stayed right on Rich's bumper.
If it wasn't for Mike and Rich, I wouldn't have been able to save the fuel I needed to save. Thanks guys for unknowingly helping me!
My plan came to fruition as I started seeing everyone head to the pits. I started my final lap with just enough fuel to get to the checkers. I could see Jeferson and Michael exiting the pits as I was crossing the line. I couldn't quite get close enough to pick up their draft and wound up getting 3rd overall as the car started sputtering at the line for lack of fuel.
Parabens Jeferson!
