Steve said it all. It was one hell of a race and a great battle for the championship. I knew my only chance to get the title was to finish directly behind Al, yet Steve and Marco had similar plans.
Qualifying was really a close one. Well not for Al who was just flying and was untouchable for the pole position. I did 2 very good laps in the closing minutes of the qualifying but always lost it a bit in the final chicane and just couldn't do my offline times so I had to settle for 3rd place behind Marco and just ahead of Steve.
My start was quite good and I've managed to pass Marco on the outside going into T1 but had to alter my line for the next corner giving Marco a chance to really attack on the long straight. I was determined to defend my position at all costs and was blocking the inner line so I was just able to keep my position. Next few laps were very demanding with Marco following me just inches behind and attacking all the time. At one point I saw him braking very late behind me so I gave him room and just saw him shooting pass me over the grass and going wide back on the asphalt, giving me a chance to get my position back and almost allowing Steve to pass him as well. And then again a very late braking trying to pass me on the inside which I closed immediately. Very aggressive but fair driving from Marco there but just a bit to much this time so he lost his back a bit under braking and gave position to Steve.
I managed to breathe again but not for long since Steve was fast as usual and was on my tail in no time waiting for opportunity to pass. Al was about 1 - 2 seconds ahead all the time but later in the race both I and Steve managed to close a bit on him, especially coming out of the last chicane where he was struggling the most.
I was quite happy with keeping my 2nd place so all my focus was really on Steve behind me but then all of a sudden Al had a bad exit on to the finish straight and I managed to get alongside of him coming into the T1 and just sneaked pass him and closed the inner line. I knew T2 was my weakest turn and I was losing quite a lot of time there so I was expecting Al to come pass me on the outside and stayed low to avoid contact but then saw Al losing it big time and going into the sand. That was it, with 2 laps to go I just nailed it spot on to secure the win and the title.
Congrats Al and Steve for the great fight throughout the season and Marco to really spice things up in the last 2 races. I hope we'll see Vertigos run again in the future and hopefully with a bigger field as well. Can't wait for a new season.

QUAL:
That was just a perfect qualifying lap from me. I nailed it spot on and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the time. It was 0.7 seconds faster from my best time I've managed in my offline testing. I actually did 2 sub 1:25's laps in a row and my second one was even faster. Car felt like it had a lot of grip and that was enough for me to secure the pole position.
RACE:
I've made a good start and with Marcos slight spin of the wheels I've managed to keep my lead going into T1. I was then followed by Marcos and we were lapping with very similar pace so the gap stayed at around 2 seconds all the time. My focus was 100% on not making a mistake and with quite a tricky track that was crucial. I knew one single mistake would be enough for me to lose the lead. Car felt great and soon came the traffic. Managed to pass everyone quite smoothly so not much time was lost there and with a few laps to go Marcos suddenly slipped back with a gap of 8 seconds. I took it easy for the last laps to bring the win home safely.
Nice racing everyone and thanks to Marcos for a great chase. Congrats to Camilo for the podium as well.
