Race report
Return to Mt.Fuji Autosalvage Vintage GT: Fuji on Mar 15, 2010
Car: Lotus Elite. Class: P&G. Start: 12. Finish: 13. Laps: 33.

So many layers of disappointment for me in this race. Couldn't get my practice rhythm going in qualy and started outside P10. Race started ok and gradually clawed my way up to P5-6. Involved in a few battles back and forth here, but a couple small offs kept setting me back. Always managed to regain lost spots, but it took a lot of time. Tangled with Les (I think) going into the oval. I was just barely ahead of him and I think I surprised him when I brushed my brakes to settle the car. Got punted, spun on the infield and got going again. Within a lap I caught up to him and he gave me back the position (Thank you. No protest coming).

Pitted on schedule in reverse window again, and this doomed my race. Not because my strategy was flawed. No. But because I neglected to uncheck repair damage. AAAARGH!! I hadn't even thought about it because the car was handling 100%. Whatever damage I'd taken had to have been superficial. But no. The crew held me for over 100secs. Race over for me.

So I motored on to the end to try and collect some points. Was gradually catching up to Jim S. over the last 15ish laps, and might have even had a shot at a pass before the end, but around 6ish laps from the end, I dropped a wheel in the grass before the last corner and stuffed the car into the tires. Got going again with sloppy handling. Good enough to drive to the end with no pressure from behind.

So, so glad this one is over. I have an epic hate for this track. And I sponsored it. Twice!!

Congrats to whoever won and got podium (I haven't seen the results as of this post).
