After 75 minutes of racing, 1 stop strategy nets me P1 as I take the chequered flag. 1 stopping Kurbatov is P2. 2 stopping Ciocanau comes home a close 3rd. What a fantastic race up front!!!
Getting the inside line into Sachs Kurve, to lead for the first time. The crowd are on their feet - this battle over P1 has been 'brewing' for 15 laps, and now "it's on" for the last 5 laps!
Kurbatov leads Graydon into the Hairpin at the end of the Parabolika 'straight'. Heavy braking and turn-in raised my locked right rear wheel off the tarmac. This kind of close action went on forever! Nice racing Artem:)
Lap 11, last lap. Top 5 exit Ford-Kurve, half a lap to go. Diniz leads van der Linden, Slezacek, Press and Graydon. Awesome finish! 5 different car makes too:)
Veedol Chicane, end of lap 1. Slezacek leads from Alvarez, van der Linden, Ansoon, Lorente, Ciocanau - then battle for P7 between Graydon and Diniz. I was P4 on the reverse grid, but the BMW's flew by into T1!
Poor start again in this series, the BMW's came flying by with their rear wheel drive traction off the line. Here, Ansoon P4, Graydon P5 and van der Linden P6.
The potential rain never turned up for the STWC Cup 1.2 hour event. In the foreground Claudiu Ciocanau leads Kenny Press, exiting T5. Andy Graydon and Ryan Ansoon exit T3 (if you look closely!).
Ryan Ansoon eventually passes Andy Graydon into T5 - a move started into T1, side by side all the way to this point, with Ryan on the inside line for this left hander. Great battle for first half of the race.
Eduardo Lorente gets a wicked standing start from P5 to be half way alongside Andy Graydon (P3 on grid) - but runs out of tarmac in a few more yards, dropping him back to P5 again!
STWC Curitiba Race 2. Caroso (left) and Graydon (right) make a Volvo sandwich of Andersson through the last turn, yep - that's 3 abreast! I made the pass stick but Caroso remained behind Andersson.
P3 on the grid at the start, too much wheel spin meant I was P6 on lap 1, but worked my way up to P3. Around 4 laps to go Gomes lines me up with a great slipstream on the main straight, about to lose my P3.
