ARCA ARAIG Action! Things are about to turn out bad for me (no.45, 5th place). Martel in P3 keeps on moving down track, Fay in P4 takes action to avoid and moves down too. We touch, and I go spinning to the infield at 195 mph! P7 in the end for me.
Lap 88, P1 DiPino; Guzman; Martel; Fay; Graydon. 1 minute to go, and it's gloves off for the fight for victory. Championship leader Phillips is keeping a watching brief in P6!
Leading the race from lap 31 to 57 (P7 at lap 15 restart), and creating a gap of 4 seconds to P2 in that time. Here the gap to David Ulmer in P2 is starting to open up. It felt good!
Into T1 45 Graydon in P3 lines up a move down the inside of 28 Malanga (P2). We 'kissed' fenders mid corner, as I was able to carry more speed in than Tom on cool tyres, just managing to back off enough that it didn't cause a spin. This was fun!
Across the start/finish line of lap 51, 3rd lap after last caution restart. Amends to my car in pits meant I was able to give Tom Malanga (in P2) a hard time initially, for the first time ever I think!
Difficult track to pass on at the best of times, here I'm heading sideways into the wall, with only 10 laps to go, after the concertina effect means Malanga can't slow in time and taps me around. Still enjoyed the racing today.
In the last 8 laps I went from P4 to P3 to P4 and here, crossing the line with 1 lap to go, Jim Barisoff (77) passes me and I drop to P5. My set up on long runs wasn't up to par!
I needed P4 for the Drivers Championship, Initially P5 off a P4 grid slot, made earlier pass for P4. Here Passmore spins out into Dingle Dell Corner and I gratefully take P3 through smoke screen in my Dodge Charger.
American Muscle start, heading for T1 and it's treacherous off-camber right hand dip! Somehow we all managed to get through with no major incidents. Gomez leads Fairley, me tucked under his bumper and Passmore on inside vying for P3 with me.
Lap 1 T1, Szombati (red) and Graydon (blue) touch mid corner whilst fighting over P3. I'm on opposite lock to keep her straight. Peter and Andy fighting hard again in this series:).
Fought a race long battle with team-mate Brian Fairley over P2. Here it's Brian getting close again into T2, there's me trying not to feel pressurised whilst getting the left side airborne over the kerb!
Andy Graydon and Nick Phillips had a few battles during the race, both for position and even when I was a few laps behind. No.4 has a new nickname - "Lucky Dog" Phillips! Or should that be Eric Martel, who got a thousand today!
Aerial view of Berlin Raceway. A 0.4 mile short track, there's always action going on. 1.5 hours, over 200 laps, strategy and tyre conservation also played a big part.
Berlin, 0.4 mile short track, brought some very tight battles. Guzman trying to avoid being lapped by P3 Graydon, P4 Phillips, Wylie and Martinez in close attendance too! Great track, great fun.
2 of 2. My own replay. Taken at exact point of Chris's car getting damage on bumper. I am a foot away and his car is further to right. Is the issue my connection/distance to server? Spoils mine and others races.
