Season 20

After 75 minutes of racing, 1 stop strategy nets me P1 as I take the chequered flag. 1 stopping Kurbatov is P2. 2 stopping Ciocanau comes home a close 3rd. What a fantastic race up front!!!

Getting the inside line into Sachs Kurve, to lead for the first time. The crowd are on their feet - this battle over P1 has been 'brewing' for 15 laps, and now "it's on" for the last 5 laps!

Through Mobil 1 Kurve, we are about to head for Sachs Kurve. Nose to tail, fantastic racing over P1 with Artem Kurbatov on his R2P debut!

Kurbatov leads Graydon into the Hairpin at the end of the Parabolika 'straight'. Heavy braking and turn-in raised my locked right rear wheel off the tarmac. This kind of close action went on forever! Nice racing Artem:)

Karussell as taken by my BMW M3 GT2 Sport class car. Brian Failey in the Pro class Aston Martin DBR9, chasing me down.

Lap 1, and Yalam Caroso didn't half ride my bumper for the opening kilometres! Sparks fly from my low sprung BMW M3 GT2 as we pass Adenauer-Forst, the top 3 'Sport' class cars in the distance.

INTENSE! This is the Nordschleiffe. 170 mph (270kph), Pires gets the tow down the long straight towards Antoniusbuche and passes Graydon (Go Green) on the outside - after 12 miles being nose to tail! The Nurburg Castle oversees the action.

Bergwerk - 10km into a 2.4 hour race, battle to take P2 GT Sport class heats up as Rocha (far) and Ciocanau (near, backwards into barrier) have collided. Graydon and Caroso take advantage, side by side whilst threading the eye of that needle again!

Lap 2, and it's Chevrolet Lacetti Extreme heaven as the top 4 start lap 2 of this 75 minute marathon.

Race victory number 5 at R2P, and my first in GTR2. Taking the Team title in the nGTX S20 series meant double the celebratory donuts:)

Different pit strategy to everyone else, running the 100 litres dry yet still able to put in competitive times on old Mediums. Stopped with 8 laps to go, Soft tyres worked a treat thereafter. Here the pit crew admire their quick work!

Lap 1, turn 3. It's a Porsche party, line astern as the fun begins. I'm P5 here, qualifying P3 but having a terrible start! Order = Rocha; Solomatov; Fairley; Norling; Graydon; Mihaila; Galloway.

Keeping the momentum on the outside of T1, I also get extra speed on the long drag up to T2. On the inside line for T2, I outbrake and take P1 with 2 laps to go. Sparks fly from Fairley's car as his splitter bottoms out under braking.

2 laps to go, battle for P1. Brian Fairley defends the inside line into T1, I go deep on the outside line, hoping to keep momentum and keep me side by side before the T2 left hander several hundred yards ahead.

Pro class Zonda spins out in front of Sport battle for P3 (order was Ciocanau in Marcos, Louro in Mosler, Graydon in BMW M3 GT2). I'm the only one to avoid contact and squeeze through into P3 (Surtees Bend).

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Can Orvil really fly? No, it's 'AndyG' borrowing Heinz Petzold's 'rocket boosters' (in his absence) for extra speed, but the Modena aero package can't cope!
