About me

I have been sim racing in one form or another for nearly 30 years now, yes that long. Can anyone remember hurtling around Siverstone on the BBC micro game Revs, getting the first Geof Crammond Grand Prix game that was a huge leap in graphics and physics mind blowing at the time I remember. I think I've played pretty much every sim there has been in those 30 years the change in graphics, physics, and immersion have been astounding. I can't imagine how much I've spent on the ever changing hardware as well, lets not go there.

My online racing started back in the early noughties using the name MiniMadPaul. Strated on rfactorcentral then onto SimRaceway (what happened to that they owe me prize money), then iRacing.com. Joined R2P a couple of years ago but for some reason or another never started racing. Wish I had now this is way better than SimRaceway here the focus is on racing not chasing fast lap times all the time. Currently I'm also doing a spot of racing on iracing.com, but Lime Rock and going around in circles in a Legends car is getting to me. Picked up a few wins on the ovals and a number of road wins on there. Came here for a bit more variety and the fact you don't have to keep shedding out the cash for each car and track you want to drive.

In the land of the real I have had a string of fast cars beginning with the 205 GTi hot hatch (which I left upsidedown on a French mountain side), Toyota MR2, Fiat Panda Mk1 (how I tamed those 34hp I do not know), TVR S1, TVR S2, TVR Griffith 500 (awesomely quick car put alot of the then supercars to shame), a BMW Mini Cooper S GTT, an insanely fast 275bhp car that was fantastic fun and where the name MiniMadPaul came from as I spent and insane amount of money on it, and currently I have a FIAT Coupe 20v Turbo which is a fantastic car. It has a Lancia Integrale engine 220bhp stock but I have tweeked this up a tad to around 250bhp. Through the years I have taken part in track days at Castle Coombe, Thruxton, Oulton Park, Goodwood, and Brands Hatch, great fun the best car was of course my TVR Griffith got to get another one but I couldn't imagine what the fuel bills would be for that now as it was a bit thirsty I once worked out that on a hot run it drank a gallon of fuel every 9 miles or so ouch! I enjoy going to races been to Le Mans 7 times a superb petrolheads week, Bathurst 2005 (my brother lived in Sydney at the time), a number of BTCC rounds at Thruxton and Brands, and every single Goodwood Revival Meeting they've had. Woudln't miss that weekend for anyhting.

I have an Intel based machine with a dual core E6850 3.0GHz processor (still a great CPU), XFX ATI Radeon HD 5870, Creative X-Fi Extreme Gamer with 5.1 surround sound speakers. Everything is running at stock values no overclocking rubbish.
The ATI card is using Eyefinity to power 3 22" monitors. I'm getting frame rates of in excess of 100fps in rFactor with all graphics switched to full. Finally my wheel of choose is the Logitech G25 simply the best wheel I've ever had. All this is set up in my spare room I sit on a seat taken out of my Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo.

I guess you could say I'm an out and out Petrolhead, but I do have other interests such as Photography, Mountain and Road Biking, and I'm a complete gadget freak.
