The effect of practice on your race is huge. Practice with other drivers is gigantic. With that in mind, I believe it would be beneficial to racing in general, if drivers would decline to share setups within an hour of a race. Assuming the driver requesting the setup hasn't practiced with any version of the setup or at all.

Knowing how the track and the setup your driving is going to change over a fuel run as well as on cold tires after a pit will add tremendously to your success as a driver.

I believe empowering a driver with a podium level setup when they haven't turned more than a couple laps is a recipe for disaster.

Trading setups back and forth with someone you have been practicing with all week is simply refinement.

I would of course like to see the setup help and generosity on the practice servers continue.

Nothing in this post should be considered a rule, demand, or requirement. Rather this is an attempt to persuade gentlemen to increase the likelihood of a pleasant racing experience.

Your thoughts are welcome, please keep with subject.

same here!!
Just to have at least 3 hours is sufficient to be comfy imo, you don t need to spend 23 hours lol unless you want to be an alien!!!

Nothing beats practice and working on setups, one painful click at the time. With rare exceptions, I don't like to use anyone's setup but mine (I have had a couple of instances where, both oval and road course, I was so lost I got help from either teammates or friends). IF I am practicing with a teammate than we work a lot on setups together, share back and forth, talk and exchange notes, but at the end of the day the setup always takes on a personal bias. Working on long runs is huge, especially since we have no cautions.
I find, however, that the biggest help is practicing alot with other trucks because:
a)you get into the rhythm: rhythm, like in music, is vital in racing
b)you get to practice running side by side with others, in crowded ovals that's so important because *passing* is not everything in an oval race-- *living* with an other competitor is. You do a kind of long dance with an other driver until one of you emerges as the winner!!
c)tracks have subtle differences within each foot that require a lot patience and studying before you get fully a sense.

Id like to see real set-ups available, practice is critical, although if you are trying to learn a new Sim to a default set-up you will not accomplish much. I was on the server for 3-nights leading up to the Lowes race and was alone on track.

Face it...a guy will only be as good as his ability, a quality shared base set-up WILL improve the quality of the racing. I would like to race a few w/ you guys, but the idea of registering w/ another site just to find an outdated set-up isn't time wise IMO.

I have experience in N2004, Arca and TPSCC I just don't have the time build a set-up from scratch, give me something to start from and I can develop it to my talent level..

Yes, the base sets on the DBF Forum do need some updating but they are a start in the right direction.

The nights I am on or when I see others on practicing are Mondays between 7pm - 11pm eastern
Thursdays 7pm - 11pm eastern
Fridays 7pm - 11pm eastern
Sundays various times throughout the late afternoon and evening eastern time.

Now those times are not always exact because peoples habits change from week to week but these are the days I'm on and see others practicing.

I agree if you wanna do well YOU HAVE to practice and you need to know how good your set is , if it's bad you have to work on it.

Always ran just to stay on track and avoid mess.
Maybe i give it a try later.
