For your viewing pleasure...
If you've never followed the V8 Supercar series, here are a few things you should know:
1 - Ford Falcon - is a model unique to Australia, but this may change in the next few years as Ford transitions to its "One-Ford" program. For 2010, only 9 cars are powered by Ford.
2 - Holden Commodore - a subsidiary of GM, the Commodore is designed, engineered and built in Australia with a few thousand converted for the US market and re-badged as a Pontiac G8 GXP. It's ironic that the best car Pontiac has offered to the public in the last decade or so, was among it's last cars to see the light of day.
3 - Team 888/Vodafone - Won the championship with Jamie Whincup last year and switched from Ford to Holden. Whincup and teammate Lowndes are once again the drivers to beat in 2010.
(The aspect ratio is a little off, but it's still good viewing. If you'd like to see it in a larger window, right click and select "Watch on YouTube" - you can also get access to the rest of the race there.)

Best torif=g car racing in the world. best part is the next round is the kiwi round :)

Thanks for that Hugo - I've been searching for those for a while!
Totally agree Robert. I used to really like the WTCC, but nowadays, DTM and V8's are the only touring cars I watch. IMO, I wish NASCAR was more like either of them.

Grew up with watching NASCAR and V8s. Not as big on nascar but the v8s are amazing. Went to all but the 1st round at pukakohe and wish they were still there. Hamilton is =nt half as good as pukie was.
The only other toring car series that i really follow closley are The BTCC which has alot better racing then the WTCC with the same cars. The Other Is the NZv8 which is basicly Road going Holdens and fords with a roll cage. Very close toring racing

Sorry guys, but bmwdvl hasn't posted the Melbourne GP support race.
But as a build up to the Hamilton 400 (April 16-18) here's V8Xtra Pre-Hamilton in 2 parts.

Since our "Wednesday Night Thunder Series" ended earlier this Spring, I've neglected posting updates to this post.
But for those of you that missed it, the V8 Supercar series recently ran two 300k endurance races at Surfer's Paradise. Among the star studded field were indy car champions such as Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon; Formula One drivers like Sebastian Bourdais and former champion Jacques Villeneuve; and WTCC stars like Alain Menu and Yvan Muller also made up part of the list.
In spite of the talent that showed up for this unique race, the V8 Supercar stars eventually wound up at the head of the pack as the race wound down. For your viewing pleasure, here are the final laps of race 2 held Sunday, October 24.

I just watched the race last Sunday and it was the most exciting V8 car I've seen lately... Intense final laps in the second race...

I'd love to get this back on our calendar starting January. Although we had some poorly attended races (less than 10 cars at Surfer's Paradise) the racing was *always* great.
Stay tuned ...

After round 20 at Surfers Paradise, the top three contenders for the championship were Courntey (Ford), Whincup (Holden) and Lowndes (Holden)
Unfortunately, Telstra Bigpond has blocked highlights for the Race 21 at Symmons Plains. Oddly enough, they've allowed access to race 2 highlights.
