Is due out on 23rd March 2011, after 4 years in the making!
Battle of Britain here we come! Can't wait to get behind the controls of an Me109E, fly over the channel, and take on some "Tommies" before having to return to base on low fuel!!!
Check out the officila site - including a video trailer. (Specs are shown on the official Forum):-

Looking forward to this also. Been flying il2 1946 all week trying to get my eye back in. Forgot how nasty some of those bomber rear gunners can be lol.
All this waiting...
il2 CoD
DCS A-10 beta6
P&G v3
... is making me itch :)

Finally, IL2 is still the best flight sim ever made. I got my start in Sim racing 11 years ago in the original game. We had air races every week that were more hair raising then any car race I have ever been in.

I'd like to get into combat sims / air racing.
I have a stick.
Please point me toward some good community forums and the best sites to read up on this type of game.
Thanks!

SimHQ is a good place to start. At the very top of the SimHQ page is a link to their forums which covers most sims plus hardware, cockpits etc.
A lot depends on what period in history you want to fly, WW1, WW2 or modern stuff.
My personal favorites are,
WW1= Rise of Flight
WW2= il2 1946, (as well as Cliffs of Dover when it is released)
Modern= LockOn Flaming Cliffs & DCS A-10
Not forgetting the various helicopter sims if that's your thing. Don't fly them myself so can't help much there...

Due out 31/3/11 now - or 01/04/11 on Steam.
Check this latest video out - you'll be amazed!

Well, nearly a year on, and it's still very much an unfinished flight sim as regards overall experience / missions / bugs are concerned.
But get into a 109 and fly over the channel to England, boy oh boy it's got wonderful eye-candy, amazing working cockpits too. Pity it was released so early - clearly nowhere near Beta on release.

They've recently released what will be the final patch as they move on to their next product. Now the game comes to life - not perfect by any means, but I've been doing some online flying in the Me109E and it's very immersive, great graphics, and damage replication is fantastic.
