MANY THANKS to the Galfer Braking Systems for sponsoring our CC Challenge mod, thank you Sirs!!!

----------------------------------------------------------------

Cobra vs. Cheetah mod, set to start on Monday, September 27th.

BACKGROUND:
Since its inception, the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) has run multiclass races. Continuing into the modern era, cars in different classes race together with the emphasis on class wins rather than overall victories. Our races for this season will be mixed class venues.

THE CARS:
Back in the1960s the 427 Cobras were the scourge of the
SCCA "A Production" category. Brutally fast, they did suffer from a lack of handling and relied mostly on brute power to get the job done.

The Cheetah was light and very powerful for its size and weight and handled quite well. On account of the fact that not many
Cheetahs were made, they could not qualify for the SCCA Production category and were assigned to C Modified.

While very few Cheetahs exist today, one can still see, in Vintage racing, the Cheetahs and big Cobras racing in the same race, each vying for its class win.

OUR SERIES CARS:

Both the roadster and coupes are present for the Cobras and the Cheetahs. Cobra Hardtops raced at LeMans and in Europe, mostly. The roadster dominated competition in North America.

Most Cheetahs were coupes. There were only a couple of Cheetah roadsters made. One came about by a driver who was so hot in the cockpit that his crew literally cut the top off the coupe!

THE MOD:
The Cobra is fast, really fast, but does not handle well.
Conversely, the Cheetah is not as fast as the Cobra but handles nicely.
Both cars, driven by the same driver, theoretically have about the same lap times. But scheduled track configurations may change which car gets better lap times.

CHAMPIONSHIPS:

There will be four Championships:

~ The Cobra Championship
~ The Cheetah Championship
~ The Two Man Team Championship
~ The Seniors Championship

STRATEGIES:

Those seeking either the Cobra or the Cheetah Championship will probably stay with either car during the season.

Seniors, points count per race regardless of car chosen.
Seniors are, of course, eligible for the other three Championships as well.

Which championships are official ones @ R2P? I suspect there will be two for the individual cars and the rest are MNRL titles.

Also, which version of the Las Vegas track are we running (chicane or no chicane)? I ask because it may sway which car I choose for that one.

Garret and all,

If the Standings appear in the R2P standings catagory,
they are official R2P standings.
All others are MNRL Standings. So you are correct, Garret,
The Official championships/standings are Cobra,
Cobra Team, Cheetah and Cheetah Team.
The Combined / Overall championship is an MNRL deal.

We will use Las Vegas without chicane.

This car just looks like trouble. It has evil intent...

That car is a mechanical version of her:

This must be Norm's garage, because there are 3 MNRL racecars in it... It's like rFactor come to life!

I am always on the lookout for old racecars to buy. (emphasis on the looking and not the buying...)
