@ the fictional character from a bad tom cruise movie, why do you think free membership is allowed? To let you get a taste so you are enticed to become a paying member or to let you come here, free load off the paying members and then bleat about it on the board?

HA @ Tristan
Actually, I have had to stop bathing in wine... focusing instead on trying my best to put food on my child's dinner plate.
Mankinni form will have to wait until more sim-racers put 'community' above 'self' a little more. As you can see from my avatar, I've stopped shaving all together (and every where!)

As I stated ealier, I am a supporting member although I don't race much per year. I chose not to use my real name because I didn't feel like getting dumped on. I understand defending how great Race2Play is because I think it's a nice community and I will continue to enjoy racing here. I am only repeating all the questions that I have heard from new and old guest members as well as past paying members who are not convinced about the worth of the membership. This is not my opinion, this is theirs. I get the comparison about the other option as the main argument not to pay or continue their membership here. Since that is the main thing mentioned, it's the comparison I used.
So, there you have it, I'm a supporter although I rarely race here because of this revelation.

Sorry Cole, we do not allow alias accounts of accounts using nickanmes or fictional names. For that reason, your account has been suspended.

This is nutty...how is the same argument of comparing a sim to a league organiser still going 4 years on?

Indeed, "Cole" is a longtime member of the Race2Play community. He likely would've received more positive reactions posting from his true identity, but that's neither here nor there.
To answer the headline question: It's because I believe the sim racing world is better with a Race2Play in it.
The comparison was made to one specific "other", but I think that's apples and oranges. That's just one sim, and there is a whole world of us who enjoy the gamut of racing. The "other" will never support rFactor, GTR2, ARCA, RACE'07, GT Legends, netKar, and so on and so on. Race2Play supports all these, their addons and expansion packs, and more ... including the "other". And Race2Play will grow with the future: rFactor2, GTR3, Assetto Corsa, and whatever else is to come.
You don't have to search out half-empty hobby leagues to try all these awesome new things. You stay connected with friends and teammates worldwide in one continuous community no matter what you drive. Your online driving career is secure and futureproof at Race2Play, and along the way we try to create the best features, benefits and service to go with it.
Do you believe there should be a Race2Play in the world? Is your sim racing experience the better for it? If that isn't worth 26 cents a day to continue, I don't know what is.

I'm starting to wonder if Tim and Todd are actually just one person.
Anyone else notice the Jekyll and Hide thing going on?
| Posted by Charlie Parker | Post #40 |
You have a point there Aaron. Has anyone ever seen these two guys in one place at the same time?
| Posted by Tim McArthur | Post #41 |
A few have actually. Conor, John Onofrey, Larry Anderson
We dont let Todd out too often though, his temper is way out there.

I know what you mean Tim. Looking at his avatar, there just might be a banjo in that canoe as well.

lol @banjo and yes, supporting R2P is in all our best interests.

No such thing as a free lunch.
The quality of the membership is really good here, the racing is fun. Overall, bang for buck is a good ratio.
The structure and environment, the effort to develop and govern the regulations and create the service is worth my subscription.
That R2P offers a free guest status is highly attractive and as long as the conversion rate [guest to paying members] meets whatever R2P's goals are, then it's all good for me.
