Oki doki, got a weird problem that I have not been able to figure out. Using an Creative X-Fi "extremegamer" sound card. I have my 5.1 speakers hooked up to the sound card. I also have my microphone hooked up to the sound card. The mic is ALWAYS active. In other words, when Teamspeak is not running, I can speak into the mic and I get a rather crappy output from my speakers. When in Teamspeak, when I push a button to talk, I get the "Grand Canyon" effect, you know - echo, echo, echo. I believe this to be a result of the mic being ALWAYS active. Not real sure what to do. Any smart people have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

i had this problem also. but with an onboard sc...realtek ac 7 or something. try adjusting your wav volume and switch codecs in teamspeak. other than that you are in the same boat i am...a crappy one, because there is really no fix for it according to the faq at teamspeak site

Steve, go into your sound properties and "mute" the mic. I have to do this otherwise when i speak I hear myself on my PC, while I am talking. Maybe that is the problem? maybe not...

I got a headset for christmas, have Teamspeak installed, the headset hooked up and ready to go. I click on the Teamspeak link here on the pitpage and get the logon screen. I enter my nick, my logon, which I guess is my 'firstname lastname' and the default password as shown on the pit page. No connection. I tried using my email address for my logon name, default password, and still no connection. I shouldn't say no connection - I'm getting invalid username or password error.

???

It's no different than any other program you install and run on your computer. So download it to wherever you save stuff ("My Downloads" or whathaveyou), run the .exe to setup, and install to wherever you install programs to ("C:\Program Files\TeamSpeak" or whathaveyou).

It's most likely that your selected Recording device is "What U Hear". Creative started to use this as a default input device so that everyone will get sound no matter where they have plugged their mic into.

The preferred fix is to go into your recording properties and select the input line that your microphone is plugged into. You should be able to get to those properties by right clicking on the speaker icon in your system tray (located by default at the bottom right of your screen) and selecting Recording Devices.

I have the XFi Fatal1ty which uses the same components. If you have the mic plugged into the front panel then select Line-In/Mic 2. If it's plugged into the back directly into the sound card then select Microphone. I recommend rebooting to restart the sound system when you change these settings, otherwise you may get some unexpected results.
