Picked up the G25 a few days ago, great piece of kit for PC/PS3. Quick question if anyone can help or suggest a solution. As far as I'm aware GTR2 only works properly with Vista when 'Run as Administrator' is selected. This is somewhat of a problem when trying to run the game from the Logitech Profiler though as I can only specify the location of the game and not the ability to run it as an admin so it runs the broken game (not being able to start a race/missing text). Thus it's a nuisance to config the wheel properly. Any ideas? |

You don't need to use the profiler to config the G25 or any logitech wheel. Use the regular windows>control panel>gaming devices to calibrate/change settings. All the settings (like spring strength etc) can be found in the regular windows gaming devices screen. (I don't have vista, so don't know if it's still called "gaming devices" in the control panel) If you need to map buttons to keys/talk to push, download "joy2key". It's free, small, and much better (imo) than the logitech profiler. |

John, did you go to logitech's website and download the latest version of the profiler specifically for Vista? |

John...just right click on the shortcut to Wingman and select it to run as administrator...all your problems will be solved. Any program that is launched with "run as administrator" can launch any other program with the same priviliges...which is why you need to be careful when giving a program that power. |

A general tip for using sims in vista: Go into explorer and right click on the installation folder and select properties, then go to the security tab. Next click edit, select Users, and check the box giving write permission then click OK, making sure to leave "apply to all subfolders" checked. You can now run GTR2 without using Run as Admin. If the game crashes during startup then you should also go into the properties of the EXE file and select windows xp compatability mode under the compatability tab. This works for all sims I have tried, except that you will still not be able to access the GTR2 driving school without running as admin. This is because a lot of older games, including ISI based racing sims, write files to the installation directory while running, and vista does not allow this without authorization as a security measure (the idea is to separate program data and user data, like in linux). Changing the security settings of the folder will make an exception to this rule. |
