Scheduling challenges

Right now the list stands at 7 tracks. Originally I wanted to start the season on April 20,(and possibly squeeze in 8 tracks) but R2P has the 2.4 hours at Nordy. Even though the GTPC time slot would end before Nordy, I didn't want to "burnout" anyone before hand (or appear like I'm "competing" with that event.) I may even take a shot at the Green Hell....

Avoiding holidays and other R2P special events was also a priority:

May 11: Mother's Day
May 25: R2P special event Indy 500 (though I may schedule a non-points fun-run)
June 14: Father's Day
July 6: weekend of July 4, I'm assuming some US folks will be celebrating our independence from the redcoats by drinking heavily and streaking the neighborhood

Because of this, there are some back to back races.

Also, GTPC events will overlap some Fabcar, GT Novice and Formula 2 Novice events.

Changes, improvements

Most of the tracks are a bit more technical and challenging than S7. You will see more elevation change, blind uphill-to-downhill turns, etc. "CREATIVITY", right? :)

I like the idea of restricting just the podium for S8. How bout we meet in the middle and go with the Top 4?

Currently, changeable weather only guarantees the weather to change between sessions. We have the ability to apply a patch/fix that will cause the weather to change during the race session. However, please note a possible performance hit. Anyone game?

The tracks will be available for download soon.

That's my boy!

I like it and I'd like it even more if we could get the weather patch to work, I think that would make for really interesting racing.

im a bit of a realism freak, so im down with true changable weather. however, I'm sure there are many who would not be so keen on the idea. i would rather race in the dry obviuosly, but mother nature doen't care what I want. rain is a part of real racing, for some drivers that's where they shine, and the rest of us need the practice:)

I like the lineup, I've never driven any of those tracks so it should be interesting.

As for changeable weather, I like it how it is, I'd rather not bring the real-time weather patch into it, but that's just me.

As for restrictions, I'm actually of the opinion now that no restrictions at all would be better, but if any, I like podium only, but that's my vote.

Looks good dude! Atleast this time around i know most of the tracks. You know i'm ok with the rain patch, but i too can hate the rain, it's just a nice change from the norm.

Looking forward to this. :-)

Hi,
Really nice for the tracks, i don't know many of them, it's going to be fun...for the restrictions, i like the idea of podium too, but 4 is better than 5 :), as for the 575, i tought the 550 and 575 were equally faster????? but i decided to pick the 575 for sebring and start to like it and got, i think, a good set-up for it, will see...., as for changing weather during race REALLY INTERESTED!!!!!!!!

Jeez, I hope those night races have good track lighting!

I would consider banning the Michelin 575 as well

Bringing back the F575 is not set in stone just yet. I need more feedback from the GT crowd.

Also, Jiading and Sepang are first and last on the list because they are the two fastest tracks on the list in terms of exploiting the disparity of car restrictions- if anyone here has driven or seen those two tracks in action, you'll know that they have long a$$ straights and horsepower will ultimately prevail.

I'd like to see the weather patch. Maybe we could try it out in the first and second race to see how it goes??? If it is just too much for the majority, then we can just stick with the default GTR 2 changeable weather. Btw, this "patch" is server side. You don't have to install anything on your side.

Just out of curiosity, is GTPC strictly a GTR2 racing chapter? Is there any possibility of branching out and doing some RF events? Personally, I'm preferring RF for online racing these days. So many of the bugs and performance issues we've seen in GTR2 just have not been happening in any RF events I've been in. The selection of add-ons is obviously better as well...

I started the chapter in late September using GTR 2. I dabbled with 2 series, GTPC and Vertigo. The Vertigo had a small attendance, but produced some good racing. After season 6 ended, I wanted to focus on GTPC mixed class racing. Plus a new job at the new year changed my work schedule and 2 series was going to be too much. Plus, I think Tim would prefer I stick with one series.... unless I could get "assistance".

Right now, my intent is to stick with GTR 2 but I'm always game to try a new mod or like you mentioned, rFactor. My far fetched plan is to get ahold of an ALMS mod, a nice variety of LMPs and sports cars.... run long races.... Though I'd miss the weather factor that rF lacks.

You know, there is a FIA GT mod for rFactor... oh wait, that is the illegal conversion of GTR 2. I actually have it, and ironicly, in some respect I think it's better than GTR 2! LOL

I also have the SSCA mod... though as a non-member I shouldn't have it. (Someone gave me a direct link and I just pressed my left mouse button) But that is essentially an ALMS mod used by http://www.sscarace.com/ Pretty cool if you ask me.
