This is to start a discussion on which car we want to use in the Caterham series - the low HP car or the high HP car? |

Middle ;-) Haven't really tested them all but the middle Cat seems like a nice compromise. |

Yeah, the middle one is a nice driver. The fastest one is more fun to hang onto, but I think the races would spread out more using that one. So put me in the middle too. Come to think of it, I wonder if the laptimes are close enough to handicap with the different versions. Hmmm... |

I think we already have enough series full of high hp cars where most people choose the fastest car available. Problem is too many can't handle those high hp cars so well. I think this would be a great series for the lower hp cars. It'll be just as much fun in any of the cars, the most hp doesn't automatically mean it's gonna be more fun. IMO. |

I don't disagree; just meant I think that one's more fun to drive because the excess power is always threatening to bite you in the rear. ;-) I don't know if car restrictions are contemplated or even possible for this series & season, but if the laptimes are close enough between the variants, then using two or even all three of them might be a good way tighten up the races. You might start the season handicapped by ranking and then go by series points. Just a thought. I'll have to try 'em out at one of the tracks to see how they stack up. Of course Scott would still beat us all driving a wheelbarrow, but what can you do? ;-) |

heheh, that's the truth. They can be set to allow just certain cars, we do it in the Radicals, allowing only the fastest cars to race. RACE 07 lets you create your own car classes, mix and match or whatever your heart desires. I don't see it as car restrictions, just a series where all the cars are the same hp, just happens to be at the low end of the scale for a change. Most races are at the top end of the scale, this would just be a change of scenery, so to speak. A Caterham spec race with the lower hp cars. I downloaded/watched a Caterhams race - Caterham Eurocup 2007 Season Review - and those cars are indeed a handful, lots of fun from the looks of it, and they don't need a bajillion horse power to be fun. |

I will go with the 260HP car for the series.... since Pete is wise. |
