Hi everyone,
I've encountered a problem again. I joined the R2P FBMW@Silverstone server to run few laps before the race, but suddenly rFactor stoped responding and 15 seconds later I was booted from the server (when the default password was changed I believe).
Now when I try to connect a server (any server) JOIN TIMED OUT message pops up. I'm able to create a game online, but I cant join an existing one. Here's what I already tested, without succes unfortunately:

1. Called my internet provider - nothing is changed they say
2. Deleted the existing player profile and tryed with new one
3. Reinstaled rFactor
4. Reinstaled Vista

What is going on? Help please.

Russ

Russ-- I have had that problem for ever. IF my PC or rFactor crashes when I am online connected with a server, just rebotting my machine will not work..it will give me the JOINED TIMED OUT SESSION. I believe it has something with that IP addressed being stuck in the system (sorry not very technical).
The only thing that has worked for me is resetting the cable router (literally turning it off, counting "mississipi-one, mississipi-two", I go to twenty) and only then restarting my PC. That's if you have a router, otherwise I don't know what to do (unless, using the "fix interent connection" on your P which assigns an ip address works. Crap, I never thought of that until I was writing this, it would save me a mad dash to the basement, but I don't know if that works).

Hmmm, a couple of additional thoughts if that doesn't work:

1. R2P's server's ISP may have banned IP addresses coming from your ISP's domain because of some attack.

2. Try connecting to a server directly rather than through matchmaker. Eg. the current R2P Megane Trophy server is 77.74.195.51:30401 (the blue + on the connect screen).

3. If 2. doesn't work, trying pinging the above IP from a command prompt (ping 77.74.195.51)

4. Make sure rfactor.exe is an exception in the Windows Firewall if you have it enabled. (Control Panel/Security Center)

Francesco, I always love your posts! Mississippi-one, Mississippi-two :-) And now I've just read your whinge about the pit-lane at Longbeach being longer than the beach itself... cracks me up.

Ping mississipi-one, ping mississipi-two... Funny, but it doesnt help :( And rF cant even find that ip, "no games available" is diplayed when I try to add a game with ip 77.74.195.51:30401
I dont have a router. I hate computers

Ping results:
Reply from blah blah blah... (x4)
