Tuesday Night ARCA
Race Length

Posted by Tim Leitz at 05:26 AM on May 14, 2008 Post #1

I am requesting input from anyone and everyone. The point of consideration would be the length of the races. My thought would be changing the format to 2Xfuel 2XTire wear and half the total distance. What are your thoughts?

Well,to tell you what I think?
I dont really care much for 2x anything.(well in sim racing)but when we ran last season on wed nights,..the racing was good I thought?
These races are fun and all..but a littel long maybe?
I dont know?Just as long as all are having fun still !!
Things seem Diff?..But thats maybe the new Sim and all?

I like the full length races personally.

I dont really care for 2x either. I also dont want to see the race length cut in half. I like the longer races I think cutting them in half would make them to short and put everybody in a rush to get to the front. Maybe 75-80% length?

I agree with Jeremy, 75 to 80 percent races. Last night's race was 1 hour and 55 mins long. It was a good endurance test and fun, but I can see how drivers could get tired and sore sitting that long. I have no problem with changing fuel and tires to 2x. Pit stops make the race interesting.

Sorry if I started this based on my comment in the post race report. I love the long races but Monday night we tested the indy car mod for 3 hours and then it was a long day at work. By the time I got home I was cool but after the first 50 or so laps it got kinda boring. I had the car ahead of me by 5 or so seconds and the car behind was several seconds behind. So I was basically running by myself. That is when boredom kinda hit and I could tell I was not focusing the way I should. That is why I exited out because I didn't want to lose focus and slap the wall and then mess up someone elses night.

You didn't start anything Bill. I had issues a couples weeks ago and also last night. I've had fatigue issues before. Mine are primarily caused by the poor seat I have. I did think that perhaps turnout might increase if the races were a little shorter as I've heard comments about race length from other drivers. I don't want anyone to leave because of race length either way, but, I would like to increase the number of drivers participating.

Bill? Oh lord I hate that name. LOL. I would guess that you would get more people if the races were shorter. Sitting for 2 hours behind the wheel after working all day is a very tough thing to do sometimes.

ahhh becareful what one wishes for....

I can understand wanting more drivers I kinda feel the same way.

But lets hope we dont end up with the "rush to the front" that Jeremy refered to.

I'm for the full races or the 75-80% also, either way.

Then again in the shoot out races theres about the same amount of ppl.

The race lengths don't bother me, I'll run whatever you decide.
I'd hate to see the tires run at 2x though, hard enough to figure out what they're doing now with no info available.
What if we run at 2x fuel?
Maybe the tires would be in better shape at the end.
Just my $0.02 ;)
