It seems like only yesterday that the Scottish Shark Endurance Meganes series kicked off at Manfeild, New Zealand. In the five races since, we have seen five different pole sitters and three different winners. With one race remaining, mathematically anyway, six drivers still in with a shot of winning the title (although only a miracle would see Ivan Iglesias crowned as champion). Before looking ahead to the final round, let's remind ourselves of the podium finishers so far: Manfeild Pole - Wyatt Gooden 1st - Jeffrey Ruskus
Bathurst (endurance event) Pole - Jeffrey Ruskus 1st - Jeffrey Ruskus
Wanneroo Pole - Roberto Massa 1st - Jack Keithley
Vanport Pole - Sam Moss 1st - Barney Fox
Long Beach Pole - Barney Fox 1st - Barney Fox
Jack Keithley is currently in pole position for the championship - the S7 Shark FBMW champion holding the narrowest of leads over Roberto Massa. A win for Keithley at Laguna Seca would guarantee him a second Shark title. He couldn't be up against a tougher opponent, however, as Massa won the S6 R2P Megane Eurocup series towards the end of 2007! These two drivers can't afford to solely focus only on each other, however. There are three other drivers ready to pounce should both Keithley and Massa slip up... Kieron Peace is perhaps the strongest challenger although, remarkably, he only joined the series at Wanneroo. Since then, as you can see above, he's finished no worse than 3rd - a great record. Perhaps the final race of the season will see his first Megane win to go with his recent win in the FBMW series. Barney Fox is another late arrival to the series, and has won the last two races at Vanport and Long Beach. Can he win one more race for the hat-trick? And if he can, will it be enough? Finally there is Jeffrey Ruskus - the championship leader early in the season following two victories, but not seen on track since the series left Australasia. Given that he is not currently signed up for the season finale, his chances look remote. The team championship is also close, with Pro Sim Racing leading by just three points from Kamrad Racing and SRD International. Laguna Seca promises to be a fascinating race and a thrilling conclusion to the S8 Endurance Meganes series. |

Great roundup. I can't believe it's just about over. Thanks for your effort running the series. Here's my roundup: :-) Manfeild - disconnect.
FBMW a bit better:
No wonder I can't believe it's nearly over. No problems at all in Season 7. I think it started when Shark events became official and my rank was vulnerable. Can't wait for next season. |
