A little project I've been thinking about and might be sellable. Brake pressure sensor that can be adjustable to help the driver find maximum braking performance without locking up. This would attach to either a G25 or ECCI or another other foot controller and then adjusted to match lockup pressure in game. Use something like a 10 step or 20 step LED bank (or even the old stereo banks) that will increase green, yellow, red (red being lockup). Use a potentiometer to adjust/match to what is happening in game. End result would be point perfect braking everytime, not really ABS, just accurate braking to maximize potential. Would this be considered a cheat? I know this is not a linear process, but that can be compensated for. I suppose a better solution would be a modification to DX so we can see the data in real time ... but I'm not that brave to dig into DX. My hardware solution would be more independant of the sim (compatible with any sim) and the foot controllers being used -- it should work with just about any game and any controller. Your thoughts? I know you ECCI owners can dial in your brake pedal perfectly, but for us lesser folk, this might help?? Yay/Nay? |

I'm not sure how accurate it would keep as wheel lockup is also dependent upon many factors which change during the race, such as wheel loading, track camber and pitch, tire pressure, tire temperature, track temperature, tire wear, brake temperature, lateral g, track grip, ... The ECCI method I'd guess is the equivalent of just changing the brake pressure % and linearity (ie. sensitivity slider) ie just changing and limiting the brake pedal positions reported. The only accurate way I can see of tying it in with lockup would be to monitor the four wheel rotation speeds for sudden changes. But of course at that stage, lockup has already happened and maybe we'd already be reacting to the feel of it anyway before the visual sensation. |

Not a cheat, DTM series use it |
