Okay, please don't stone me, but I just came from running the new F1 2008 BMW-Sauber, and for the life of me I cannot understand now why we'd stick to the super-modified 2005 CTDP mod (with all due respect and humble apologies to the creators, as well as the ton of work Tim put in testing and modifying tires etc etc). I am drooling dreaming of running this car with our custom skins.
I am just curious to know what any one else of the fellow F1 racers here, that have tried both, think. I know the question of mod usage has come up before, but in my most humble and uninformed opinion now the comparison is virtually mute.
Happy 4th of July everyone :)

Just DL'd it. I won't be able to mess with it for a few days. But it looks pretty good. Handling and physics any better?

I don't like the CTDP physics much so I'd prefer this, but I'm still undecided whether I'm going to race rFactor at all in S9.

I think it's a bit hasty to suggest we should be making such a huge change with the season only one week away. It makes sense to stick with what we've been running because that's what we've all been testing currently and a few people testing out this new mod and enjoying it hardly makes it ready for use in this premier racing series on R2P. I don't doubt that it's of very high quality and perhaps IS worthy, but you can't expect a drastic change like that to happen so fast. Even if it is better, I've already put a bunch of testing into S9 with the cars I knew we'd be running and it would require starting all over again with very little notice to change it now.

Fair point Justin, although it's ISI worthy because...it's by ISI! :)
I understand your point about it being just a week before S9 starts and the time invested in testing-- it is a very good point and there is absolutely no need to rush into anything, certainly it can wait to S10.
However, and again please-- with all due respect, I can hardly consider F1 with the current mod to be the "premier" series. I certainly think that ChampCars here, even with the buggered aero push, are just as worthy of that title if not more so.
I think R2P never rushed into a new mod or sim, in general. So I think there is no need to worry about all of us having invested testing time for a series that's going to change. However times do change, and in the long run I cannot see how we would stick to 2005. Just my humble opionion of course-- a ton of better drivers with a better understanding of physics might differ on that, but the challange of driving the ISI Sauber at Silverstone makes me salivate while the idea of driving the CTDP once again there preps me for a nap! imho.

i agree with all points made, i do think its beeen time for a mod update. and i agree with rebleo its to late to change now.

the thing that has allways bugged me about the r2p f1 is the wierd scehdule.. i dunno my biggest pet peive in sim racing is that i like for the series to follow the same schedule as a real life series. so thats why i race f1 else where. silverstone this monday!

I think that the BMW should be considered in a fun run by anyone whose interested. If there is a good turn out, then maybe a seperate F1 series could be considered for S10.

Don't forget that CTDP 2006 is due out shortly! (or so they say..) and it won't have those monstrous V10's. We should see some better handling.

Shane, are you feeling OK?

I understood every word in your post!!! : )

Guess I'll have to try this out and see what all the fuss is about.

I don't understand why ISI should be used as a separate series in S10, while the official series goes on with the CTDP mod-- and even if the 2006 whenever it comes out is a masterpice why should the official F1 series at R2P stick to 2006 and not the official ISI formula one car?
Again, I must have a completely dememented sense of feel-- because the simplest comparison of the current CTDP mod and the ISI car makes the discussion ridiculous to me. I guess the dozen or so drivers left in F1 want to stick with what they're familiar with, but it's a pity because I think the future lays elsewhere-- I guess we'll pick up the topic again in preparation for S10.
