Hey all,

I was wondering if I could ask for a favor. I hate when I see folks come and go from our group. What do you guys think of looking through the GDC Chapter members, and sending some invites to people to join us next week. We have had some great folks (Larry, Scott, Ralph) come to mind that I would like to see back out.

Would you guys mind taking a couple of minutes and each invite 1 or 2 people to comp back or come out? Maybe it is a guy you race with elsewhere here at R2P (or outside of RsP) that you feel would be a fit.

I recognize this is a little tough with the mod in limbo, but we need to try.

I would have liked to join you lot and take part in my first GDC event (and only my 4th R2P since discovering this site) the other night, I had done some practising for it, but I had to pull out along with withdrawing from two other events as my harddrive crashed and Ive been left with only my laptop until fixed. I will in future look to join in future events after I get back from my summer vacation, as this group seems ideal for me, as Im somebody without much experience & skill, but a lot of enthusiasm :)

I been involved in many communities online as moderator, admin and founder. I see them come and go, some just one time and some for a few weeks. Part of life.

You can't please everyone.

I will make a deal with you Mark. Make a banner and I will advertise yours on my chapter page and you do the same with mine. ;)

Part of the GDC premise is community and friendship. Part of GDC friendship is staying in touch and caring beyond the competition. That is one of the things that will make us different. I want the folks here to feel like we are friends first and competitors second.

I'll race with ya! While I've been mostly sticking to the ovals, perhaps I should try to get back into road racing some more. I did some of the ovals with you guys and they were a lot of fun, so I'm sure road courses will be as well. I also like the timing as well as it will still give me ample time to do the IndyCar Championship. See ya out on the track!

Glad to have you back David. Get a hold of Larry and tell him to Come 'on as well. He was great.

We are likely going to change to the V8 super cars which, given your background, should put you right at home.

Oh, and Doug, I understand completely what you are getting at. I am just trying to save the world...LOL

Thanks for the "Larry`s great" comment Mark. That was pretty hilarious. Sorry I haven`t been around much. I signed up for the 16th. so I will see you there.
I have felt like I needed a break from sim racing at R2P so that is a factor in why I haven`t been around. Combine that with the fact that the PS3 has some cool games to play and that pretty much sums it up. I`ve been getting into GTA4 and Warhawk and GT5Prologue.
I still think GDC is one of THE coolest things to run at R2P if you are slow like me or unwilling to put in hours and hours of practice for one race like me.

It makes me feel good to see that about the GDC. So long as Tim feels the same way, I suppose we will be around.

I have to get the MOD deal under control though. I made a bad-bad decision in switching to the GP2 MOD and I have to right that before we loose all of our great people.

I have been lapping my behind off with V8Factor and FVRV* and I expect to get a decision by the end of today.

Rear wheel drive and V8....like the good Lord has always meant it to be.

I came out for one or two runs with you guys. I'd come back for more, but honestly, it's the MODs that keep me away. Neither GP2 nor V8factor are of interest to me. I'd sooner be running trainers than those (the new OW package from R2P would be a good package to select cars from). Though, I think one of the biggest hurdles you are dealing with in this community is that you want, as you said, "friends first, racing second", but I think you'll find a very large number of the guys on R2P already have friends and come here for the racing first. We make friends here, which is nice, but when you only get so much time away from the wife/kids, I think most of us want to be spending that time doing something productive in terms of learning how to set up cars better or drive them better or master a track better.

I think you guys are a great crew, but I'll be perfectly honest (so hopefully feedback helps), I found the extremely relaxed format of the races just not interesting enough to keep me coming back. Like, introducing rules where you can only lead for one lap or where we all stop partway through and change things around and stuff. I know that not everyone drives at the same pace and I don't have an answer for that, but like I said, there's only so much time available to us junkies every week to get our fix, and chatting about and waiting for some people to catch up to the pack isn't really how all of us get our fix. I'd sooner spend that tuesday evening hour testing for the upcoming F1 race.
