03 Oct 2011 — Kenny Press led every lap from first-place start to first-place finish in the Karlskoga STCC #1 in the opening round of the SRL Swedish Touring Car Championship series.
Press spent all of 16 laps total leading Neto Nascimento after originally being caught by him on the first lap. Press controlled the race lead every lap from start to victory.
Nikita Shaposhnik made a final pass on the last lap for a sixth-place finish.
Driving the VW Scirocco, Shaposhnik wrestled the advantage back and forth with Jonathan Holz in a long and tense battle for fifth starting early on, running within a scrape of each other over a stretch of 16 laps. Shaposhnik spent the majority pursuing Holz after initially catching him on the first lap. Shaposhnik launched an extended challenge at Holz in the middle stages, staying within car lengths behind him and gaining ground over an unbroken run of nine laps. Shaposhnik cleared Holz for the second time and into sixth place on his final lap.
SRL Swedish Touring Car Championship series moves on to Round 2 later this day at Karlskoga '10. The series has 17 drivers competing for points in the championship.
Tobias Olsson won fourth place.
Neto Nascimento won second place.
Olsson spent the majority of 16 laps total pursuing Thiago Reis after originally targeting him on the first lap. Driving the VW Scirocco, Olsson launched an extended challenge at Reis in the beginning, staying within a scuff behind him and keeping pace over a continuous run of 13 laps. Olsson passed Reis and into fourth place on lap 14, and defended it against pressure by Reis the remaining three laps to the checkered flag.
Thiago Reis captured fifth place.
Driving the Honda Accord R, Nascimento drove all of 16 laps total leading Estevao Diniz after initially being engaged by him on the first lap. Nascimento fended off an extended attack by Diniz in the beginning, staying just a couple turns ahead of him over a continuous run of 16 laps. After starting fourth, Nascimento took second position on the first lap and controlled it every lap to the checkered flag.
Estevao Diniz won third place.
Reis ran the majority of 16 laps total leading Tobias Olsson after initially being caught by him on the first lap. Driving the VW Scirocco, Reis fended off a prolonged attack by Olsson in the beginning, staying just a bumper ahead of him over an unbroken run of 13 laps. Ultimately Reis lost the spot on lap 14 and settled into fifth the few laps running to the checkered flag.
