USA FT: Silverstone

Fun Race once again.

A couple guys apologised to me after the race for contact (or close to contact). Just wanted to say really no big deal.

I stopped looking to win, I am just looking to have 1 car in my vicinity to race with.

But, Jesse, it was a nice gesture stopping. Thanks.

What a great race I had. Got a great start and got right on Steve's rear wing. He pulled a few lengths on lap 1 but I caught back up and it was on from then on. Lap after lap, I was looking for an opportunity to pass. He was holding a great defensive line and still getting great drives on exit. Fast forwards a few laps, and we get to the right handed hairpin. As we get on the throttle, he gets some wheel spin and I get on the outside. Tried to hold it around the sweeper but I touched the dirt and got back in-line. Then we get to the last turn and he just got on it a bit too hard and did a nasty tank slapper and I got by with a big lead. I almost gave it back with a few mistakes, but luckily they weren't too costly.

Great job Maciej, Tristan and Steve. What a great tight race this was.

Qualy:

A bit better than I expected, especially after seeing folks in the 29s in the Euro race. I ran a mid-32, which was good enough for eighth.

Race:

I got a good start, but I shifted into second too fast, plus Gregg Mulgrew got a great start and was ahead of me going into turn one. I got that position back on lap three, when I believe Gregg spun, and I then got two positions on the following lap when Rob Ainscough and Chris Melton spun. Rob then got me on the lap five. Soon after he passed me, heading into turn one we both went in hot and we kinda did a synchronized slide. Rob kept the position until lap eight, again in the "Maggots" area. I got past when he spun, and even though he was faster, I thought I could hold the position. I probably would have, too... if I wasn't so stupid. I got (needlessly) aggressive protecting my line into Brooklands and headed into the gravel, giving the position to Rob and losing another position to Chris.

Still a very good race.

SOlid race for me. FOllowed CM and RA for a few laps, just as they started to pull away they both spun, moving me up to the 5 spot. I kept up my pace and it was enough to keep the gap up. 6-11 were all grouped the whole time and I slowed once but thankfully stayed ahead then pulled away again to a 5-6 second gap. Cruised to the finish, very satisfying! Fun destruction derby after the checkered flag :)

Great fun, that one. Struggled a bit with consistency in Q at first, but made some changes and pulled off 2nd on the grid. Didn't much like being on the inside line but it didn't matter since I bogged it off the line. Again.. ;-)

Tried to stick w/Maciej & Tristan but got a big push off the final corner and got the fronts unhappy for a bit which lost me a bit of time. That put Kevin on my tail and we had a great fight while I was trying to adapt to a bit of lost front end bite. Was sure he was going to get me a number of times, but he showed great patience and reserve - much appreciated!

Finally choked on the 7th lap and got into a big tank slapper by being too throttle-happy off of the final hairpin. That dropped me to 4th, and while at times I thought I might have a shot at retaking 3rd it never came together.
