USA FB: Toban

A bonus result for a race for once. Though not a lot of use being the last race of the season! lol

I had a pretty good Qual, but my Team Mate Chris just pipped my time in the last seconds of the session! Well done! So I was 5th on the grid, which was ok.
I was just aiming to lap well and see how far that could get me if others ahead fell aside.

In the race I was running at "5th position pace", so that was fine. Then someone ahead fell aside and I was 4th and then also gaining on Chris bit by bit. I seemed to move up into a better pace and then I was hounding Chris for a few laps, but hardly likely to get past anywhere - then he kindly let me through when I got a run in one area! THANKS for that.
So then I was 3rd and I edged away ahead.

As the race went on, that pass was going to become a critical input of great use!

Tom spun off from in 2nd and Chris and I got past. But as the laps went by Tom was coming back, gaining on Chris! And seeing I had edged away from Chris it meant I had almost 2 secs extra leeway from that. Thus Chris having let me past earlier was now putting himself under attack from Tom heading back up the field!
If we had spent the whole race fighting it out and thus wasting time we would both have been there together for that battle with Tom!

So that showed what a great use it was, for both of us, when Chris let me past. Because it let us both run full pace laps from then onwards, so we were both as far 'up the track' in the race as we both could possibly be. And it was just bad luck (for Chris) that Tom's error did not drop back just a bit more and thus give Chris the race laps to keep him behind him.

So the "Gentleman Racer Award" (and "Mutually Beneficial Best Decision Award", lol) goes to Chris Melton!

And seeing (unlike the Euro race) the front cars never actually caught any back-markers (almost), there was no interaction of faster and slower cars to have any note of!

Oh, and David showed once again why he was the series Champion! High speeds and high consistencies!
A well deserved Championship win!

Well thank you for the kind words Peter. If not for a few ocasions things could have been much different.

After getting my car damaged in the first lap at Varano, i was not interested in that happening again. I wasn't even sure i was going to race today, but 30 minutes before the race, i decided to give it a shot, and got on track for the first time. You guys saw everylap of practice and setup time i got.

I just missed my teammate, Tom's, pole lap by less then a tenth, argh. good lap though. :)

I got a great start and took the lead into turn 1 uncontested. But Tom was not going to make it easy. He was right on my rear wing for the first 10 laps or so. Tom finally got a run on me down the front straight and got far enough along side before turn 1 for me to just back off and give him the spot. Side by side in turn 1 would have been a certain crash for one or both of us. So now i got to return the favor to Tom, and i noticed i braked a lot deeper than him, but he pulled me on the straight very easily. But a few laps later, Tom lagged handing me back the lead, which i took to the end. It was a great battle Tom!

To win the final race of the season was a great end to a championship. But the best part of the series was all the close racing i had. Jidang, Varano, Mosport, and here at Toban short, i had great close battles with various people. It's too bad to see this series go, but so be it. It was fun while it lasted. Guess i'll be looking for another Formula BMW league using rFactor.

Solid race for me, no spins or spills. Slowly chased down BB then lived with him in my mirror for many laps. I was hoping to get 4th place giving me third in the championship but oh well. Nice season all, some great battles! See you in Race07 one day, I'm sure we'll have FBMW in S8!

Man, I thought I'd actually win a FBMW race this season :( Had a great qualifying, and put it on pole (Thank you, Ryan Ansoon for the awesome setup). David got the perfect start and was already past the line by the time I started moving. We had a great race going, I got by him and we were running very fast times nose-to-tail. All of sudden, the frames go down to 10-15 FPS. I really need some computer help, I feel like I'm blaming half my less-than-best performances on my computer, but it happens every other race it seems. It happened coming out of the chicane, David went by easy, and I did another lap at that same frame rate. I finally spun when I hit the bump coming into the turn right before the chicane, and as soon as I spun, the frames came back perfectly. How stupid is that? Either way, I was on a mission to finish 3rd or better so I could pass Wyatt in the point standings, so I had to catch Chris. And I did, with the combination of him slowing down a bit and few laps on the edge, I managed to catch and pass Chris. Peter was gone by the time I got to Chris, and I had to settle with 3rd.

Congrats David on a strong end to the season and the championship, and the rest of the podium for the season. I'm happy to finish in the Top 5, this is the first championship I've placed in for R2P :)

Tom, it is most likely a background process causing the slow down's. Any that are many seconds or longer are pretty well 100% that case.

Hopefully it happens offline sometimes, because then you can immediately Ctrl-Alt-Tab and go and check the Performance tab to see the graph of CPU usage. And that should show some activity of use for a clue. eg gone extra high %.
Then maybe a quick change to Processes (or do that one first) will still catch one in action that is hogging CPU power. Check the CPU column right thorugh.

Or do it again the next occurence etc etc

Also sometimes you can have something tie-up the hard drive access and thus badly delay rF from getting to it - maybe when it wants to load some Gfx, or wants to write some replay block. So also check the hard drive light to see if it goes on solid, or a lot of action there.

But anyway, it is more likely to be something outside of rFactor itself. And the rarer the occurence for you, the harder to have it appear to go and find.

Yeah I figured it was something in the background working on something. And since my computer and my parent's computer run off the same internet connection and modem and router and all that, when my parents get on and do something big, mine goes to hell. That wan't the case last night, I probably got an e-mail or something, but it has happened. And they caught hell :p
