GT | G2 Sprint

Great race all. I feel like my arms are gunna fall off. lol

Tommy had the big guns tonight man. He was fast in testing, qual AND race. I was sitting back patiently just hoping he would have to pit, or would lose a tire or make a mistake or somethin. No such luck. :(

Got hit with a penalty AGAIN, but this time in the closing stages of the race. Other than that, the race was really fun. I was able to keep up with Tommy for a good amount of the race even when he was in the 550 and i was in the vette. I was very pleased with the Vette's performance and im very eager to get starting with it in GTR2 next season. Great win Tommy :)

After a wet qualifying session, going into the race I forgot to change tires, so ended up starting on wet softs. Guess what - they don't last long on a dry track. 2 laps in and one tire had blown so I had to get back to the pit for a tire change. After that I was almost 1 minute down on the next car. I worked back to within 40 seconds of the next car. Going into a couple corners faster cars tried passing me in the corner, I paid too much attention to the doggone mirrors, missed my braking point and ended up in the gravel, and more than a minute and a half behind the next car. That happened on two laps, after which I decided the heck with the mirrors and turned them off. That meant any faster cars were gonna have to pass me on their own, in a safe place, cuz I wasn't moving away for anyone. I know at least one person didn't like that 'cuz he went by me flashing his headlights. Oh well, if you can't pass safely wait till you can, that's in the league rules. Then with about 5 laps left my radion guy says 'Tires worn, take it easy', so another pit for tires to really put me behind.

Just call me BONER as for some reason I started the race with hard wets. I could have swore I changed them after the wet qual. Anyhow a bonehead move by me forced me into an early stop for slicks. It makes me sick because I was SO confident after practice that I might just have a chance for my first ever win. I guess it wasn't meant to be. Now I have to go to bed and ponder what could have been LOL! Fun track with a few tricky sections! On a positve note I really love this game!

Started out on the pole for G2 class and then spun in the first turn...aaaall the way to the back. Drove my ass off trying to catch back up and was barely making progress when all the sudden I was in 2nd place but looked like I had my work cut out for me trying to catch Tim who was driving the wheels off that Porsche turbo. Then I came around a corner and there was Tim getting back on the track. ALRIGHT...now I'm right on his tail but could barely keep up with him. He was getting off the turns better and I was getting into the turns better and going into one of the turns I accedently bump him and spun him around and I went in the sand. I felt bad for tagging him and let him back by. I did my best to stay with Tim and the last five laps we were just absolutely pissin our cars and tires off try to battle for posistion and I damn near got by him but he prevailed with the win. Great fun Tim and Thanks again to Yourself and Todd. Had a blast!

Barry, ok, that's cool. I didn't have my mirror on all I could tell was someone passing and flashing lights at the same time, after knowing you were behind me through several corners, but not getting around me, it just seemed like you weren't too happy. Glad to know it was otherwise.

I was flashin like there was no tomorrow when I came up on lap cars, just so that they would know I was a lead lap car. If it was me flashin you, then you did an excellent job of letting me pass because all the lap cars I came upon did really good letting the faster cars by.

The Porka-Turbo doesnt handle the rain as well as the RS or RSR. My qualifying should have been better but the car just wouldnt agree. I dont know if anyone else noticed, but late in the qual session the track conditions went from "wet" to "damp". My poor wet tires were severly over-heating because of it. Even though I could better my secotor-1 and sector-2 times by a good margin, sector-3 with all those corners where tires were in need, prevented me from bettering my early laps.

Start of the race was pretty cool We dont regularly do standing starts in our GTR races, but we decided to this time. the Porsche is great for standing starts with all it's rear weight and i had a good run on Barry right away. i decided not to push my luck in T1 so lined up behind Barry for braking. Lucky for me as Barry looped it and I got to take over the G2 top spot.

I had an 8 second lead over 2nd but over the first 15 laps it was slowly coming down. By the time GT cars began to lap us it was only a 6 second gap. I new Barry was fast, but I felt the Porsche should be faster and I kept trying to open up the gap a little bit, only to over-drive and make matters worse.

I finally settled into a good pace and opened up the gap to 13 seconds. This is where I put a tire on the curb and the car began to spin. I reacted my locking up all 4 brakes to prevent the car from rotating all the way around. Ths stopped me in center track and Cory had no where to go but into my door. Lost all of my lead over Barry and now I had a big battle on my hands.

Barry had the better car late in the race. My pace had fallen off big time with worn tires, but still the Porsche was better off the corners due to it's weight over the rear tires. Barry actually got past me once, and I though "well it's all over now", but he braked too late and I got back under him to re-take the lead in the same corner.

Barry did give me a little tap once or twice in his attempt to pass (which I dont mind... I was having a blast) and the one time he spun me, he was a gentlemen to slow and wait for me to get going again. A few more laps and Barry would have had me... I was a sitting duck out there and just trying to run a line that held him behind. I dont think it would have been much longer before Barry made a move that would have scored him the lead... thank God for the checkered flag coming out early.

Great racing Barry, I had a blast. Grats Tommy... good drive with Conor on your tail the whole time.

I was running solidly in 6th, and I don't know WTF is up with GTR2, but I calculated enough fuel to run the whole race without stopping. 20 mins from the end, I'm out of fuel????? That's only halfway. WTF! I reluctantly duck into the pits, got serviced, and then drove off, getting a BF for speeding. Spotter says I have to do a stop and go, so next time by I duck in again, but my crew is ready to service the car again?? So the clipboard comes up, I didn't remember how to tell the crew "no service" and inadvertently hit esc. Un-fucking-believable.

I ran a few practice laps after I installed GTR2, but that was about it. Whenever I had time, I was working on GTR. With the 2h race this weekend, I thought I'd pop on to get some practice, only to find this event in progress. I didn't have much time, so I was essentially using a stock setup, and never really was able to challenge anyone. The only other car I really saw was Kent after his stop. I managed to hold him off for about half a lap, but that was all she wrote.
