Euro G3: Dubai

My first rece here turned out to be a disaster.

Ruskus talked me out of medium fronts which I thought I could make last the 30 minutes.

Switched over to hard fronts without practice and the car had terrible understeer as the Tyre temperatures were too low.

One of the other vipers passed me after I ran a bit wide, come the next corner I braked early to avoid contact and there was a safe gap between us. Suddenly the car lagged and there was contact I could do nothing about, it just stopped right in front of me.

I slowed and waited and a few cars passed. I could not work out whom I had contact and if they had passed or not.

Either way I'm very sorry for the contact but can assure you it was down to lag.

Managed to get some heat into my front tyres and my pace was increasing. Caught up with the next group of cars.

Made a move on Darren Adams on main straight. Heading through the next couple of bends I could hear him but not see him. I tried to leave as much space as possible.

Looked backwards, nobody there, looked forward and everyone had disappeared for there too. No disconnection notice nothing.

Pulled over and escaped. A sad end to my first race.

EDIT. Having now watched replay, I can apologise to Jans Larsen. Also watching replay it is clear that you car does lag and stop dead in front of me.

There really was nothing I could do and not my fault. It does not stop me feeling bad though

Great times for pole from Jeffrey, and Ari in the Z3M getting in the 1.25s. I did a good time luckily since I only just got in the room after rebooting router. I had to do it cos in practice all the times were out of sequence and I wasn't getting responses in chat, people were disappearing and reappearing from the list aswell. Funny thing was I could still see people on track and drive round myself no problem. Anyway the reboot sorted it out and the racing was great. I just got held up in turn 1 outside Pete and he got a clear run past the Viper in front. Then I got caught by Vipers at the wrong time, losing small amounts of time to the other BMWs up ahead. Unlucky disco for Brian meant that they didn't have to deal with his Viper. George was next and he did get in amongst them but he was unlucky on the penultimate lap and dropped back, I just held him off for the final lap and closed right up to Pete and Ari for a very close finish. Nice job from Mark in the Porsche too, coming through from behind with some nice passing.

Sorry I quit immediatly after race, but I had only 5 minutes to do a league race in Race 07 :).

Qualification was good, took some fuel out of my racesetup, put meds allround on, and was happy to get into the 24's.

For the race I took hards allround, and I'm sure, for me that was the best option, as wear on those was even 25 :o .

Race was pretty hard work, the car was understeery at the beginning due to hard front being a bit cold, and near the edn due to wear.
Had some nice drifts near the end :D.

I decided to try out the Z3M today having only raced Vipers in G3 races before. I lowered the rear wing to 1 in qualifying and while it seemed pretty quick I had trouble keeping it pointing the right way, and ended up 14th.

I made a crap start and dropped back a couple of spots before the first corner, before some first corner incidents lifted me up to P16. I was surrounded by yellow Porsches at this point. Tom was battling with Valtteri in front of me and while I was a bit quicker there was no way through, so I was lucky when they touched and I sneaked by. I caught up to Roman and after several laps I managed to pass him at the tight left hander after the esses. The next lap he managed to get along side at the esses, but I didn't see him at all, so thanks to his good driving we didn't touch. The rest of the race as spent trying to keep Tom Ostry behind me, and it was all very close at the end. But for a little lock-up at the long left hander on the last lap he might have got me. That was a lot of fun, and my most exciting race so far at R2P.

Congrats to Jeffrey for the win and the other Z3Ms that managed to run so far up front!

Great chase, Lokman! In the end my tyres were very worn, couldn't hold the car through the bends so I would only pass if you made an exploitable mistake. You learned how to drive through the last corner just 3 minutes too early, lol, I always caught you there before. Good race.

TT aka Tom Ostry

I gambled on running softs all round and for the first 5 or 6 laps it worked great. Made a good start and got up to 3rd to give Roberto a hard time for a few laps, until the recovering Jan cruised on by. Fronts were wearing bad, though, while the rears overheated with the slightest provocation. Soon Roberto vanished in the distance and I had my hands full with Ari, Mark, Darren & George, a close battle that carried on to the end.
Fun race, but I really did make it difficult for myself!
