Euro G3: Spa

A nice finale to this series for me, I've finally got the Z3M set up a bit more comfortable and it's paid off with a podium in the last race. I started well with a PB in quali and passed Tom at the start of the race, Mikko came flying through in his Viper so I was still 3rd and it stayed that way the entire race. I could always see Mikko in front but could never get very close to him, I was more concerned with Pete who was pretty close behind the whole race, one slip up and he would have had me, but I managed to keep him out of my draft...just.
Congratulations to Marko on the win and to Ari for the Championship, great consistency all season.

Settled in for seventh for last few laps and then PC decided to crash! Fortunately was just enough to grab third in team championship but a bit gutting after some good battles through the early stages.

Grats to the champions.

Not very good for me. Things got very tight in Les Combes on the first lap, then after a few laps I ran wide in Pouhon and ran wide in Busstop two times. Basically I was doing everything possible to lose the championship. Later I got nudged under braking for Busstop but even so, I was in a good enough position to take the title.

This race was ok..

Quali was well off the pace compared to the other Z3m's, i was on for .27 when i was cut short a few meters by session change :(

Start was nice and was able to take mark mclean before Eau rouge.. then was just interested in staying ahead of him, and attack nick whol was on my pace.
My tactics to Nick finally worked and forced him into outbreaking himself, but it ended up going the complete opposite way for me, nick spun out into my car, bounced off me, and caused me to have to correct myself, which then gave mark M a place. What a disaster for me.

then Ari came in the mix, and on his 2nd attempt at passing me into the busstop, i lost it under braking, sorry Ari, was not intentional, and took us both out. That was where my race was decided.

got a consolation finish of 8th when Nick got the DNF.

Well done Ari for the win, and Darren and Joco seeing it out.

I'm happy with the result. I started from fifth place so it could've been better qual for me. My start was good and I was able to pass 3 cars ahead of me, thanks to the Viper's acceleration. Marko's pace was way too good for me so I just drove avoiding any mistakes to take the 2nd.
Grats again to Ari and Marko.

The start was a little tight - Tom up ahead was a little slow away whilst, as expected, Mikko used the Viper grunt well from behind. Three wide into Eau Rouge was interesting, though I believe Tom thought better of it and eased off!
I then spent the rest of the race chasing Darren, but we were so evenly matched it was impossible to pass without a mistake. Unfortunately he never made one, although I almost made it into the Bus Stop one time but couldn't quite get slowed down enough, allowing him to cut back inside. I'd planned to give him a harder time on the 13th and final lap, but I totally forgot the race would end after 12. DOH!
Grats to Marko (who smashed the old track record by over FOUR seconds!) and thanks to Darren for another hugely enjoyable battle.

Lol, I forgot about the standing start and set 1st too long, so I was getting nowhere at the start and I did ease off. Another reason was that I didn't want to spoil championship finish with a first turn chaos and therefore didn't react very much even when I was blocked. (wink)
