Euro EC: Magny-Cours

Apologies to whoever I span in the hairpin first lap thought I could dive in there but more than likely a bad move on my part.

Finished off a crap evening nicely by planting it in the pit wall when attempting my drive thru, then being unable to reverse as I had set a key for Neutral and did not know what it was therefore was stuck, again blocking one or two on the way.

Bad night for me I am afraid, being on teamspeak with an alien probably did not help :-]

Jon did a great job to pip me for pole in the dying seconds. Had a good start but so did Jon and we went into turn 1 together but he just had the line to be in front. I had better straight line speed and had a half chance in turn 2. We went inside by side with respect for each other's lines but Jon came out in front. From there it was me chasing him. For the first half I could stay within a second of him but couldnt make any dents into it. Then on lap 5, jon threw a banana skin on the track. I slipped on it and went into a spin, losing about 5 seconds to jon. As I recovered I looked to see if 3rd might overtake me, but luckily Marko was putting lipstick on in his mirror and the distraction enabled me to stay in 2nd. After that I brought it home for 2nd. Congrats Jon, great performance.

A great race, but i am in deep shock after findoig out that jon was morphed into an alien. lol. I was very happy with my 10th place grid position, but the first corner was mayhem. There were cars flying everywhere and i was spun ou to nearly last. I believe that someone in front spun adn as they lost control i clipped them and then lag set in to stirr things up. Sorry to all if was the one who caused it, it all hapened so ast i dont actually know. I'll check the replay in a minute.

Quali was ok .. got a nice 4th ..

Start was hectic, I got off the line ok, and went into T1 with Marko just infront of me and he was closing the door , There was slight contact but nothing to hard .. Mark Benvenuti almost got throught T2 and Darren adams had a look ... seen a bit a action in hairpin behind me and then just focused on top 5.. Mark B made a mistake and i got through and was not able to do much to closing gap to top 4 .. mad a mistake on lap 7 and lost 2 places, Lucky all to teammates, so stil same team points, got past mark B one last time to bring it home in 6th.

good race all in all i think, grats to podium..

I was forced into the middle at the start, a place i really don't like being since i have enough trouble avoiding cars on one side of me. then i over-corrected my line when i saw George reappear on the inside. i couldn't see you at all, of course until you turned in and then it was too late.

then to make things worse, we had one of those awkward moments when we both started moving at the same time and came together again.

and I had felt pretty good about this one, having just installed my new 8800GTS and worked my time down to 1:44.822 with full race trim. but i decided to do a few more laps to check the tires in MoTec before joining the server. This made me later than i'd planned and then right after connecting i got a "booted..." message.

Luckily i'd read last night that the "terrain patch" that comes with the P&G mod was causing such problems, so i didn't waste any time trying to rejoin. i quit my main GTR2 install, copied my setup files over to my backup install and launched that.

no problem joining the server this time, but i soon discovered that i'd forgot to copy my PLR over as well. so i had to redo all my controller assignments just before qualifying started, and then when i went out the wheel felt very different due to some FFB changes i've made in my main PLR.

oh well...

still, i had fun trying to chase George down, until i went sideways in the carousel about lap 8 or so.

Nick; it's ok, I didn't quite spin and didn't lose any more positions so it didn't ruin my race or anything, but you owe me a new door.

I struggled with this track all week and knew I would be hard pressed just to do 10 laps without spinning somewhere. So I just concentrated on keeping it smooth and picked up positions only when cars in front made mistakes, which happened a couple of times.
Grats to the podium finishers.

Barrett, it happens mate, no harm done. I did not practice at all and my lap times were above 1:47, so I wasn't going anywhere. Pretty occcured, that bonnet to bonnet in T1, I felt just like in the parking lot of Carrefour ...

On the other hand .. I really have a serious problem, as at the start I always see maximum 6-7 cars on track, so how can I avoid someone who brakes hard if I cannot see him ?! :( I usually start slowly, even if I get passed, and follow a car that I can see , follow his line and hope it's the right one . After 2-3 laps everything it's ok, but the start ... damn ISP :(

Mihai, I hope this helps; when the session changes to "Race" make sure everyone's names show white, not blue. Click on the names of anyone whose name is blue and they will load and turn white unless they are already on the track, blue means not loaded or on track and you can see if they are really on track when you click on their name.
Also don't be in a hurry to get on track, we always have the full 2 minute countdown because we have non-racing stewards in their garages and if you go on track before someone else has loaded your car they may not see you or you them. I usually wait until about 40 secs on the countdown and don't have many problems with invisible cars so this seems to work for me. Apologies if I'm repeating stuff you already knew.

A good race for me. Was lucky in qually after I crashed to make it back to the pits and start again. Just managed to pip John to pole with my last lap. The start of the race was the most exciting bit for me. Some nice side by side racing on the first lap with John. Just managed to sneak ahead though and from there just kept the car on the track. The car felt good all the way. Nice race all.
Might not make many more races because of the unborn(was due on monday) baby. Prolly be here very soon so don't think I'll have time but if I can race I will. Good luck for the rest of the season all ;-)

practice was ok .. got a 44 quite easily ..
qualy was terrible ..
and the race .. well .. what can you do when you get a stop/go penalty because the car behind me pushed me
after that it was ok-ish, the pace was ok probably good enough for a top 10 but the race is too short for a real comeback :)
