PLMS: Jiading

I drove my car for the first time in qualifying. I knew they weren't the best handling things in the world, but I didn't realize they were THAT bad. So, I started 4th in class/10th overall. I got Tristans setup between quali and race and had a good start as well, so the car was a bit better. I got by Jim in the first turn and drove off, and began cruising by myself, 20 seconds behind the first two and about 10 seconds in front of Jim and the others. My race was ruined when, for some reason, I was shifting into 4th at the same time I was going over the crest of that drop on the front straight. The car went bonkers and I slammed into the pit wall. The entire front end of the car was wrecked, I had no suspension left and the car drove like crap. Jim had caught me and Dan Ortega was gaining on both of us a lot every lap. It was only 30 minutes into the race by the time they both got by me and the car was deteriorating lap by lap. I was slowing down a lot and, on top of that, having serious framerate issues, as is usual with Jiading. So, I decided to retire and try again some other time.

Congrats Roberto on the overall win and Tristan on the class win.

With the retirement of Omar from the series, I feel I lost the only competition I had-- which is a pity. Basically, I am-- at best-- a second to two seconds off the pace of the other GTR1 cars, especially at a track like this one (my first time here ever). That's the unfortunate thing with having only 6 cars in the class: when 5 guys are top class, the last guy is a lonely fellow! Basically I spent 44 laps practicing...the only time I had to do anything was when I was lapping the GT2 cars which, by the way, were all gentlemanly about it and made it quite easy for me. So a lonely, lonely race for me. Frankly, the only reason I am sticking to it is because I don't want the field to be even one less but I sure wish there were more cars out there. Omar, if you are reading this, come back!
Congratulations to the winners, and a big thank you to my teammate Bob Fay who gave me a great setup and drove a great race for a great team result. Great job also my GT2 teammate John O. See you next time.

I was having a good race with Dan again, until my tires really fell off, so I decided to pit about 1/2 way & catch him when he pitted.
To my surprise, the engine let go on the next lap. Just one of those things, I guess...

Hopd to be a little closer to the front after practicing, but the front three were too quick for me. Did you guys go with soft tires or was I just that slow?

So main battle was with Bob,but could not really keep a consistent lap going.

Will say now I see little point in this series continuing given the low numbers although I will support it if it continues, surely with all the options in RACE07 it would be best to bite the bullet and move to that in this slot instead.

Radicals maybe? Then I could race as me!!

I'm really liking this series, more great battles with Jim Barisoff. At one point it was a 3 way fight with Tom O'Gorman leading us around the Jiading circuit.

Just watched the replay of those awesome laps, will have to try to make a vid, great stuff!!!

This lasted until Nick P. in his GTR-1 spun in front of Tom exiting the hairpin. Poor Tom had no where to go but right into Nick! I was lucky and had the inside line and just made it past Nick's sliding car.

I was very disappointed to see 1st Tom and then Jim have major problems putting them out of the race. : (

I was very happy to finish 3rd among some very capable drivers, great show guys!

Hoping to continue this little war for the rest of S6. : )

A beer or two before weekday evening races usually help me keep my heart rate down... which smoothes reactions and leads to fewer high speed mistakes!

Nick, I was only describing the action on track, which was hot and heavy. How it turned out is just a part of racing. You did not "spoil" our fun.
Heck, last week during an Aussie league race (V8's of course) I spun right in front of a whole group of cars and caused a heck of a mess! Lol
