GTX: Birmingham

For some perverted reason I've been wanting to race a Viper for a long time, decided it was time. Sitting in the starting grid loooong way from polesitter I was thinking what a stupid idea that was. LOL

Race progressed steadily people dropping for one reason or another and some 45 minutes left I came across four cars and I decided to pit a bit early. As it turned out I managed to pass them all by this cunning and devious plan. There were still some late pitters that gave me 9th spot in the race with some 20 minutes left. And Barrett Erickson breathing heavily behind me in a yellow Saleen. Nice close details in that Saleen grille, LOL. I managed to hold my 9th but it's more to the fact that it's not that easy to pass a car that has about the same speed. Great racing, indeed!

Good qual lap for pole. Good first lap and a great battle against the clock with Krueger for about 10 laps. After that I was able to start getting a little gap. Traffic was real good, hat's off to those I passed.

About 1/3 into the race I had about a 6-7 second lead when I went to flash Claus to say thanks for the pass. Total blunder on my part as I hit the neutral button and blew it up.

Man this past month has just been terrible for me and racing LOL

A mistake at the start influenced my whole race. I had forgotten to put the car in gear and that cost me some positions. In fact ... it brought me behind Joco and it took me 19 laps to get by. But ... some nice and close racing there Joco. I enjoyed that. But I'm still wondering how close I would have been to #4 and #5 at the finish if that hadn't happend. Anyway .... seen enough of Birmingham for at least half a year. On to Imola. :-) Grats to Sam, Darren and Heinz for getting on the podium.

Wasn't even sure about joining this one but in the end it went pretty well.

Should've taken softs in qual as the difference between best race time was less than a tenth...

On the very start, a car spinned just after the green turned on and I had to steer left quite alot. Got away with it. Few seconds later, the Vettes bumped and got away with there as well. After that I know I couldn't get any close to Darren in his Lister, George Pol was just behind me and really pushing me on! Finnaly he overtook me and Oleg was 5 seconds or so behind. After the stop I was behind him, turned out to be 8th in the end.

At first I didn't like the track but now that I know it I must say it's pretty thrilling.

This endurance race was real fun. Pity I run into Cristi Rus at the end of lap 1 when he was u-turning in the middle of a corner.

I don't think I would have done much better if I hadn't crashed, but I really expected him to wait for me to pass before u-turning.

Nevertheless, after one lap with the front seriously damaged, which cost me an extra pitstop, I managed to keep a nice pace to overtake Larry's Saleen a couple of times, which was fun.

Good race and congrats to the winner. This time I managed to smoke my engine instead of creating fire. Some of you probably seen me smoking like a chimney on the side of the rode..........again. :(

Wow!! This race was off the hook! what a good way to say goodbye to this track finally!!!

before the race, i was going with the lister since i had done a 75m race here in GTPC already, and had a setup and all, but 2 hours before i decided to see what my fav car the saleen could do, and wow, instantly was in the 1m17's, so decided i'll go for a sunday drive in my precious!

quali went well, i got a PB 1m17,0 and pole and thought LAP RECORD LAP RECORD !!! then Kent went and smashed that and bumped me to 2nd and i had no clean air to try another FL. but happy with 2nd totally!

Start was awesome, VERY clean from the front 6 WELL DONE guys .. I was keeping up well to kent but had Jan breathing all over me, Sam was breathing down jans neck and Tristan down Sams and the slightly undepowered lister of darren was keeping a watchfull eye from the back.. A few mistakes here and there from me saw Jan and Sam have a crack at each other, but Jan was always the one sniffing at me constantly. I said to darren on the team radio ''im going to crack under this pressure soon'' and it happened. Lap 16 i think, i lost it on the downhill chicane exit, Jan spun out right behind me, i think it was just reflex, sorry .. this allowed Sam and Kent to pull away, and Darren was now right behind me after i got back on, concentration was tainted, and i made a mistake again, same downhill chicane, this time into the barrier.. was hard knock but we survived...

After pits i was just trying to catch up to darren again, and noticed Jan was in the pits still in his stop, a very long stop, gave me a position but knew he would be on me again by the ned of race. My second stint pace was fast enough to catch Darren, but i was just never able to get close enough to fight.

Last few laps saw Tristan trying to hold off darren, darren holding me off, and me holding jan off... Crazy!! instense!!! heartbreaking for tristan and Jan who touched on the last set of courners helping me and darren get a MOB 2nd and 3rd!

Heinz said it all really, a great race. Thought I might close up on those in front during the stops as I'd be taking on less fuel and my pace was slightly better in the 2nd stint in a lighter car. The Lister was pretty good round here and less of a disadvantage than usual. Just managed to hold off Tristan at the end and Heinz and I had time for a photo finish for our team 2nd & 3rd!

I'm very sorry Francisco but if you look at the replay from my car you'll see I was spun twice by Claus in the 1'st lap. WTF? TWICE? Don't know what was that, personal self esteem or just a rookie trying to steal a position on the way to nowhere. It's not that he had an inside line or something. Just run into me twice for no reason.
The second time I was really pissed of and pushed my clutch not to kill the engine and I didn't pay attention to you.
It was my mistake but given the circumstances...I really don't know what to say anymore.

I DNF because in second lap a car apeared from nowhere in the middle of the track ( lag I guess ); one of my wheels came off so there it was for me.
