GTX: Spa

Sorted.

Not much to say about my race really. Qualified 5th but a poor start put me down to 7th. I had gone with hard tyres with the hope of going the distance without stopping. My opening lap wasnt so great and Scott was pushing me hard. Coming out of Blanchimont we both went wide and slighly lost the rear. My braking for the bus stop put me offline and Scott went into the back of me. After that I was 16th. The next lap Augustin went wide at Blanchimont and went straight into me. I hit the grass and hit an MC12 at the bus stop (I suspect it was Sam, if so, sorry, but I was just a passenger at that point after being knocked off at hight speed. A

After that my car was 2 seconds a lap slower than usual and I struggled to the pit stops. After this it was better with much better pace. Struggled to pass Oleg Boreyko for most of that stint, his 550 just driving away on the staights, but got past with 2 laps to go.

Should have been so much better but thats the way it goes.

Apologies for my first lap incident. After John made a mistake out of Blanchimont, I decided I could brake later than him into the Busstop, which I could, the only problem with that was the near stationary group of 550s just ahead that I hadn't noticed. As John swerved around them I had nowhere to go and ran into him, which shot me onto the grass and across the chicane, which gave me a stop-go (and a drive through for punting), at which point I quit. I don't think it was a case of idiotic or over aggressive driving on my part, just wrong place at the wrong time. I hope the incident didn't cause any extra mayhem, and sorry to John :-(

I sucked. :) Had a good start from 6th? In LAP1 in BUS STOP i got a push from behind which actually gave me another place against Kent.... It was great driving for 1st stint, but in pits a made a mistake with that board... which cost me 10sec to choose, and it did not end well, since i unchecked rear tires change... Wooops... :)

Then i was just trying not to fall asleep in the 2nd stint.

Grats CJ great pace, owned all of us Ferraris.. :) And grats to GTNDC for great season.

What a great series, I've really got to like the Lister over the season and it was the only car I felt comfortable with from the available choices for Spa. I was expecting Claus to be faster than me as usual but his pace just blew me away, absolutely amazing performance in the Maserati even for him. I didn't have the greatest quali session and killed my car on my 2nd hot lap trying to push too hard. So I started from 11th and knew the start could be dodgy. Mikko came flying through turn 1, touched the car in front of me and swerved across the track, I ended up on the grass and Agustin had nowhere to go but right into the back of me. That dropped me to 18th but I soon picked up a few positions as a result of a couple more incidents in front of me. I had some nice battles along the way and I moved up a bit further after the stops. Had a little battle with David Fish after the stops and then I was 6th with Pete 20 seconds in front. I don't know if he was taking it easy or on a very different strategy but I was catching him and I thought I might have an outside chance of catching up with him by the end but the race ended much sooner than I expected, and I suspect Pete had plenty in reserve to hold me off if necessary anyway.
I don't like this guessing the race distance aspect, if the game doesn't do the right amount of laps for the time can't we announce the number of laps pre race or just set the right number of laps for the required time or something. It's very hard to decide on a strategy if you don't know the actual race length.
Grats to Claus for the series and the race win, I was just pleased to be able to stay as close to you in the points as I did and keep it interesting right until the end.

Long time since I drove the Vette but soon found out it is much sweeter over curbs than the Saleen. Just a bit slow on straights. Got 20th in quali which didn't surprise me at all in this field. My start was great and I was in 16th when we reached Les Combes. There I was punted straight to the entrygate and back into 26th. :-( It felt a bit like being in a cage full of canaries with 2 yellow Saleens in front of me and 2 behind after that punt. :-) Did my stop and had Samuel close behind again. He already passed me in the first stint so I knew that would happen again. What I didn't expect was being punted off at Blanchimont while being in 11th already sending me skyhigh into the fresh Ardenneskies ending my race and my chances for a top 5 finish in GTX overall. Still pretty pissed about that because there really was no need for that to happen. A bit more patience would have done the job too.

Grats to Claus on both the race and the championship.

Congrats to CJ winning the season, and the race in the MC12.. so happy to see something blue shoving its fist up ferrari's ...

My Saleen was setup to something i was really happy with. Set a PB in qauli and was happy starting in 4th.

MY race started fine, I was keeping up with Claus, Maciej and Marko just fine, but then on lap 3 i made a slight mistake at stavelot (same as S5 race) and lost out to Janko who had enough speed to get me at blanchimont. Then It was a hectic fight for my 5th ahead of Kent and Jan. I was grinding my teeth for 7 laps .. keeping them behind me was making them race each other aswell, and Jan ended up attacking me again first on lap 11 and was faster coming out of Eau Rouge behind me, and got me in T1, Kent followed suit and I decided not to block, the 575/550's were just relentless.

I was thinking 7th was just fine for the saleen, behind claus and the flock of ferraris.. Any dnf's would see me get a better result, but on my inlap for pitsop, Eau rouge GOT ME AGAIN! 2 races in 2 days :(( luckily i was able to crawl away battered and damaged and made it to pits and had to wait ages for damage to be repaired.

When i came out (last), i had a 26 gap to close on Dennis and Claudiu's battle, and gabor and borut were not far ahead.. as i got it down to 5 seconds with about 10 mins to go, i spun it at bus stop.. what a waste of hard work. Gap would not be closed again after that.

Wow that was a frustrating, dissappointing, fun, fantastic event!

I was not feeling comfortable in the 550 through all my practice sessions and was very close to jumping into the 575 just before I joined the room. In the end I decided against it just because I had not done any laps in it recently.

Qual: was a dissappointment, made a few mistakes my first 2 laps then caught someone for my best lap costing me a lot of time. Ran out of time on my final lap which I was 6/10s up on myself...oh well, 6th on the grid.

Race: Got a nice jump on John then almost spun the thing out as I accelerated and dropped in behind Heinz's Saleen. Trying to be cautious lap 1 I soon had Janko running up my rear. Cold tires and a tight group of cars, cars warping mine handling like shit. I slowed way to early into Bus Stop allowing Janko to close right up when teh mayhem behind us caught up to Janko and launched him passed me. At the time I was pretty pissed that he didn't allow me my position back but a few laps later when it was clear that my pace was well off I stopped worrying about.

Instead I had to worry about Jans in his 575 who was much better than me. I could barely hang with Heinz and the 2 fast sections Jans was killin me. We all had a nice little battle against the gaps until Jan's made a great run through Eau Rouge and passed me on the straight.

Now I am running 7th and thinking "man this car is crap". Main focus was to keep up with Jans and Heinz since I was planning a short stop and no tires. Well soon Jans got past Heinz and began pulling away. Can't remember how I got past Heinze but I saw people start pitting about the 16 lap mark. Then I could see Jans, Janko and Marko ahead and got encouraged about my chances.

Lap 18-19 I found myself wit hthe lead and 1:10 gap behind when I dove for the pit. Lost a LOT of time just making my way to the pit stall. Told the crew NO TIRES and 32 seconds later got rolling and stalled it! Rejoined right behind Claus and 8 seconds ahead of Marko. By the end of that Lap Marko was already only 6 seconds behind.

Well Marko cuaght me about lap 23 but spun it in the Bus Stop giving me a 6 second advantage again, but he wasn't giving up. With 4 laps to go Marko again close to within 2 seconds and went off at Pouhon giving me another 6 seconds breather.

Brought it home in 2nd with about 3 seconds to spare.

A Huge ATABOY to Claus bring the Maserati home with the win, the championship and the team championship!
