Adelaide 200k

Good fun, longest race I've been in. Got punted in the 2nd lap had to get damaged repaired and went a lap down a lap quickly. Made up some ground, so all in all an experience going into the pits a few times. Looking forward to the next round and getting around drivers a little easier...

Insane!

Qual was pretty successful getting 2nd.

Race started off pretty clean. Janko was distancing from me and Rory behind me, who was pushing me to the limits throughout most of the race. After 1st stop I was behind Rory, and was getting closer as I had heated tires and he just came out of the box. Couldn't get him all until the last stint.

I went in a lap earlier than Janko and Rory, and coming down the straight again I overtook them both. If I was second later, it'd be too late. Leading the race, Rory was again behind. He had some chances, I managed to block him but I made a mistake in last turn. Missed the braking line and spinned the car...

Felt to 2nd place and was thinking if there was going to be enough fuel. When lap 61 came, I was only hoping it's the last one. But it wasn't... Had about 2 liters on the start of the 62nd lap and I thought, it's over. Was using high gears all throughout the track and drove very slowly. Janko and Darren took me, and I brough it home with 0.0 liters!!! The engine actually died a little before the line!

The taste, of what could've been remains, but the race was extremely fun and insane!

Quali was difficult, couldn't get a clean lap but 4th was ok looking at the times of the top guys, I don't think I'd have moved up the grid even with a clean lap. At the start I lost 2 places and then gained them back when the 2 in front touched. Then I kept 4th for my first 2 stints and didn't see much action atall. In the final stint I found myself catching Janko by about a second a lap and sure enough I caught him with 2 laps to go. Getting there was one thing, I'd had some hair raising moments with traffic and by the time I caught up my tyres were nearly as bad as his. I needed more time but I didn't have it and on the final turn I just went for it and tried to get up the inside of Janko, there wasn't much room with Janko defending the middle line and I just caught his rear quarter which forced him wide. It wasn't a fair pass so I lifted and let him go back past before the line. I was pleased and surprised to see I'd moved up to 3rd somehow anyway, I hadn't even noticed that until I crossed the line.

Qual was good and got pole... But seems like setup was only good for 10 laps or so... then my pace was slooooooow....

1st pit went OK and still i had the lead,... but on 2nd one, they put too much fuel in which ment i was in pit 5s more then i hoped for,... and Rory come out of pits just that 5s ahead... I tried to get to him, but made a mistake out of last corner, BUM and my car was Dmged,.. front was crashed,... i thought OK... i ll ust be 3rd... And then Darren got very near in closing stages and as we passed the nofuel Joco, i defended the last corner, darren gave me a push, but that was not the way he wanted that place so he let me back past him. Thnx Darren nice fairplay.

Grats to Rory his pace was just too consistant for me,... next one maybe i ll give you more trouble ;)

Everything started out ok, until I made contact with someone and the alignment was readjusted. I decided to deal with the issue until my first pit. Later on in the race I lost control coming out of the last turn and completely messed up the alignment and had to limp around to the pits. Looking forward to the next race.

Clean start through the first chicane from what I saw. Good job guys. Though, the hairpin after the long stretch someone got turned over, causing a brief bottleneck. That was messy.

Slowly reeled in M. Peeler with about 7 to go. I was short-shifting to save fuel and my tires were worn. Surprised I got to him and made a brave pass on the long straight just before the right hand kink. Thanks Mark P. for holding your line and giving some room. Too bad you lost it a few turns later.

Rory caught me with 1 lap to go and I had 1 gallon left. I debated whether to let him pass so I wouldn't run out of fuel, but I said to h3ll with it and ended the race on the lead lap with 0.5 gallons left.

Overall, a huge improvement for me personally from the last time I ran this track. Improved my lap times by over 2 seconds, thanks to Tim's setup.

Only 1 DNF. Glad to see no Discos. And happy that the toughest track on the V8 schedule is done early.

Insane race, longest for me. Already familiar with this track from the ages of TOCA :) , practiced today and got it almost decent ( 1.34's - 1.35' ) . BEgun the race carefully, dropped from 10th to 12th, but I begun to make good laps. The BIG mistake was to think I could get away with only 1 tire change ... and by lap 25 I was sliding all over the place. At the end I was already losing focus cause of the drift_like style of driving , still no major mistake, few scratches on the walls.
I hit someone who was lapping me in the right hand turn after the long straight, sorry about it , I already let 2 guys pass and did not see u.

Overall interesting race, hope will be an improvement in consistency for me .

Race plan: Don't touch anyone first lap, which i did and it cost me a drive thru. Sorry about that Allen Cotten, you closed the door on me and i had no where to go, we touched and you ended up on your lid. Again, sorry about that.

So after my drive thru i was in last place and driving hard trying to get back into the top 10. I was trying for a 1 stop race, but driving so hard from my booboo i wore out my tires with 10 to go before my one stop. So the 2nd run i tryed to be easy on the tires incase i had to do battle with someone at the end. Well guess what, here comes Charlie with a few laps to go. I couldn't make up my mind to let him go by and then try to get him back with one or two to go, or try to hold him off and possible take us both out. Problem solved, didn't get a good run before the long straight and he passed me clean. Like you said Charles, i got loose coming out of that corner and tryed to hang on, but lost it..LOL Good times!
