Euro nGT: Nurburg

No problems, no mistakes, no more speed. Quite nice track this Nurburgring. Grats winner, podium finishers and so forth.

Coulda had 3rd, shoulda had 4th, finished 5th!!!

Qual was so-so. Should shave off 3 or 4 tenths.

Started pretty good, gaining one position. I tried to hold down some faster cars and I managed to do that all until I got a damn alt-tab. Lost 4 positins :( Closed up to them in the 1st stint. In the stop I took way too much fuel. If I took 20L less, it'd be enough to keep some Ferraris behind. In the closing laps there was an accident. I bumped into Heinz, as he collided into another car and stoped too suddenly for me to do anything... Sorry for that :(. Well I took 2 positions and got a decent result.

The Modena was a lot of fun, shame its a bit slow. Qually went well, got my last lap in within about a second of advancing, and it was about as fast as I could go so I was happy with 3rd. The race started well, my soft-meds got me some good lap times straight away and I was able to pass Claus and gain 12 seconds on him before the pitstop. The stop went well, 85L and 4 tyres, unfortunatley Mark McClean and I seemed to share a stall so he lost about 30 seconds waiting for me to leave, unlucky Mark! I came out and sliced through the field, but was about 0.5 off my previous laptimes... just couldnt get my concentration back and resigned myself to battling for 3rd. When I caught Pete (3rd) I tried to get passed him, but he seemed to be in a "stay behind of spin me out" mood, and I really didnt want to spin him out, so I did my best to make a clean pass but couldnt do it. Made a big mistake with 5 mins to go, misjudging how slow Pete was and almost ran into the back of him, but avoided him, loosing lots of time. I caught him again with 2 laps to go, but he span behind a backmarker and gave me the place, and I cruised to 3rd.
A bit disapointed not to give Claus a run for his money at the end, but overall quite pleased. I think this makes 10 straight podiums for me too :-)

First of, sorry Staniol to have spun you in the last lap. I braked considerably earlier but you were very slow on the racing line. Nevertheless, I was lappin you, my mistake. Sorry.

Qualifying:
Bad stuff, couldn't get in the rhythm at all. 5th on the grid, with Modena and RS ahead of me. Lame.

Race:
Not very good race for me. And stuttering on my PC didn't help either.

Started quite nicely, was side by side with Pete, but he had inner line. Few laps later, I nudged Pete a bit (I didn't brake too late, was just constantly braking later then Pete and I was caught off guard a bit), which was enough for Joco to get by. I tried to pass him, but that RS has some serious straight line speed. I menage to get side by side once, going into T2, but Joco decided I should move from there and turned into me. May I recommend "Look Left/Right" function to be used?

At the end of the first stint I made couple of mistakes, which enabled Mark, Darren and Heinz to get ahead of me. Pit stop was terrible, lost way too much time.

In the last 10 laps I had interesting fights with Joco and Heinz, menage to overtake both of them.

Congrats Janko, Claus and Scott. Great stuff fellas.

Great race .... bad result. But that doesn't really matter when you have a great race. Almost starting to give myself compliments too. :-)

McClean, good run at the end, swapping positions while it lasted.... even though it was for 11th. :)

Track ate my tires for lunch and I couldn't make it stick in turns. Was fun though.
