Euro nGT: Brno

Was quite OK. Could have been slightly better but after pitstop got stuck behind another Porka doing two seconds slower laptimes. Lost a lot of time there but it's difficult to pass. Anyway, it was OK race.

Lap 1 T2 I bumped into Gabor's rear bumper but it definitely was no punt. Sorry nevertheless.

Well, almost.

Had a great 30 minute battle with George Pol - awesome driving, no contact - nothing, very predictable, and closely matched. I managed to get some good exits out of the final turn and draft down the straight ... no joy. The uphill chicane section proved the best for making a move. Still, I couldn't keep the position, and neither could George!! In the end I was getting very low on fuel so thought I'd best back off as it was going to take another full tank to get to the finish .... or so I thought....

Let the tale of uber-numptiness begin.

Basically - I wasn't sure about fuel consumption, so I was going to start with a full tank, then add 60 (or adjust to whatever) at the stop. So, I dutifully checked that I had 100 and 60 set.

Unfortunately I forgot to check that I'd put them in the RIGHT BLOODY PLACE!!!!

So, when my car was on fumes and everyone else was jetting round the track and not pitting I was totally confused. Seeing as what I thought was 100l had lasted 30 mins-ish, I thought I'd better throw in 100 again - so I was all ready to change the 60 to 100......and yet it was already looking to fill me up? Eh? Not wanting to waste any time I got the stop underway, waited an age and then rejoined in something like 21st.

As time went on it became painfully obvious what I'd done, and that a top 10 finish was out .... I would have fancied it if I'd fuelled the car up how I wanted!

Still, I had great fun catching up guys who I should really have been in front of. TT came out of the pits, and it was time to get the hammer down, and get one over on my teammate. TT could keep up on his cold (I presume?) tyres, and the gap stretched a little, but not wanting to to be humbled by the whippersnapper of the Legends he duly responded and we had a good fight for the rest of the race - only being interupted (and ended as it turned out) by the leaders lapping us.

Great racing - really good fun. Dissapointed I couldn't have carried on fighting with George for the whole race - but the fuel screw up is one I won't do again.....

Messed up in the pits...

Qual went OK and got a pretty decent time.

Start was fine and stayed infront of CJ. Wasn't as fast in 1st stint using the med-med tires but still tried to do my best. I went to pits and chose soft front tires, plus I had to add some fuel, because I first planned not to change tires and just use full tank in 1st stint... That was a real bad mistake losing 8-10 seconds or so...

Got behind Johan and Geroge after the pits and had some fun. First I overtook Johan and after that I was sandwiched for 5 laps or so. Finnaly made a tight pass on Geroge and after that it was just about bringing it home.

What a tough race, really a challenge just to get a top 10 in the end. I had a horrible quali session but didn't really go wrong in the race, I just didn't have the pace. Had problems with my throttle cutting out 3 times, once costing me a position to George coming onto the SF straight, I gotta get this cable sorted out. Well atleast I should be out of the top 5 for next week, that's something.
Sounds like a great finish at the front, I'll have to watch that replay, grats to the podium.

For me it was quite OK, too.
Didn't make to the qualifycations, so had to start last (just joind 4 seconds before end :) ). So got a good start, passed a few cars in the first couple corners, but then somebody just infront of me spinned, so i hit him badly and went on grass.
Again I was last but slowly made my way up.
The rest was prity much normal, got lapped got some good fights and ended race.

Thx guys for making this a shorter report cos you've said it all. That Porka Johan got stuck behind was me cos I only took some fuel at the stop and was running hard/med. Will try med/med with new tyres later on. Enjoyed racing with you guys especially Johan, Adam, Joco and Darren. :-)

Well.... I got the result i wanted. Couldnt do anything about the Top3 drivers all in RSR. No metter the mistakes i had in 2nd stint,... there still was no way to get any better result. ;)

Had a good start followed RSRs for some time then my pace dropped. Changed to med fronts for 2nd stint which was a big mistake. CJ didnt change tires and i got back from pits just behind him. We had a great fight, the first time i got by him, i made a mistake into T1 and spinned,... that sucked. :P Still got back to catch him and overtook him a bit later. Then passed Pete and that was it for my race. From there on just cruise control.

What a finish! But let's start with the beginning.

I was awefull in qualification, being 1 sec slower than PB. Heck, my racepace was only 0.2s slower than quallytime, that says it all I think :) . Still quite pleased with 3rd place.

For the race I kicked 1st gear back for a good start, and I did. Overtook Ari before T1 and I was behind Marko.

For about 25 minutes the gap stayed 1s. He didn't make any mistakes, and neither did I. And at that point we were at the same pace. Ari was behind me around 2s the whole time. So I was under pressure as well.

I wanted to pit in just before traffic came, but it came earlier than expected and I lost alot of time in inlap.
Filled the car up and went for med/med again (good combination, gave me fastest racelap :) ).
I cam out RIGHT infront of Ari, and I had to defend immediatly after my pits. And as I was still on cold tires and brakes, there were some great side by side moments.
Knowing Ari from Sim-Challenge I know he's a very fair racer and he proved it again. Awesome driving mate.

Marko was infront of me in the pits, but drove off very early, so I knew he didn't change tires.
I was around 20s behind him, with 25 minutes to go. So I calculated I needed to be around 1,5s per lap faster so gain up. And I was on schedule the whole time, so I knew it was gonna get close.
The last laps there was some traffic where I lost a bit more than Marko, so in the end we finished with a gap of 0:00.084 !!!!

I just needed one more lap, but Marko probably calculated as well and knew he would make it...just :) .

Awesome stuff, and now I can't wait for Sim-Challenge to kick off again :D

I must apologize to John Passmore. When I made a move we were too close into the corner and he went off. Waited for him as I don't want to gain places this way. Sorry John. I enjoyed our first and second tussle, though.
