American FH: Silverstone

I'm spent. Screwed up qualy and then spun on lap one turn 2. I am such a dork. Oh well GER FREAKIN ROCKS!!! 1-2-3 baby!!!!

Another fantastic win by Craig (The Green Hornet) and a spectacular drive from Jeff. Finally he gets a finishing position representative of his talent. And Joe, man the guy just keeps on keepin on. Consistant as the National Debt, always there.

Can't catch a break in this series. Grid countdown read about 20 seconds when I hit the "race" button, but it put me in the garage and the field was rolling away. I think this was because forgot to turn off Azureus on my HTPC, which caused some lag.
I'd never been in this situation before and rushed out onto the track, past a red light (the color of which looks the same as the green light to me) and I was DQed.
I got the track record at least.

Eventful hehehe. Should of had a top 10 qual, but I ended up smacking the wall and had to start 14th. Right at the start, a Williams gets side ways and collects a car and I have nowhere to go and clip the Williams screwing the toe on my car. Made some mistakes trying to get used to the car with wheel crooked. With cars going off and breaking down I was 6th and was just cruising to stay there when I saw Jimmy Had spun and was back on track just in front of me, started to push again and got in the draft on the last lap. I actually put a longer 5th gear and I still hit the limiter. Got on the brakes and we were side by side, made contact in the middle of the turn. Stayed side by side till the next right hander and I saw him spin in the mirror.

I missed the start and came on track, determined to unlap myself as best I could, 3 laps down. I was driving like hell, on pace with the top 5-7, when I realized I had just jumped on track without getting enough fuel to finish. And, for whatever reason, I couldn't refuel. So, to aviod a DNF, I sat on track and waited for the finish and finished, oh I don't know, 16 laps down? Oh well, better than a big fat DNF.

Congrats to the podiums.

What can I say, riding around comfortably in 6th place and made many mistakes at the end. I guess I should be happy I finished top 10 in my 2nd historic f1 race but it's just super disappointing to throw away a top 5.

Sucks that Mike did not make the grid, he had pace to win for sure. Thanks to him for giving me a drivable setup. I have fun battles with Aubrey and Kevin S.

Argh!

After capitalising on a slight mistake by Craig and David through turn 2, I did my best to stay consistent and the payoff was opening up a couple of seconds on Craig as I settled into the lead. I was greatly faster onto and through the straights, but I could not carry nearly as much speed through the 2nd and 3rd gear corners as Craig. This accordian effect was startling!! It was also silly, because Craig and I were so zoned in, when I made a mistake (such as going wide through Bridge), Craig followed suit!

My engine blew on lap 17... a total shame, but I suppose I was hard on it. I might have been able to run qualy tires at this event, because when my turbos expired, I still had all five green bars remaining on the softs.

Well done to Craig and the podium!! Good work GER... but I'll see to it an Eagle spoils your three way party in deepest, darkest South Africa ;-)

Holy Crap that was intense.

Qualy...I threw some adjustments and it worked out okay for P5.

Race...I Screwed up the start as usual but settled down and worked on the gear box of peter V, I was much quicker thru the T2 -4 complex than he was but he had more straight line speed so I waited for the right moment and jumped all over that position, then I set my sights on David B, again I was much faster thru the T2 thru 4 and was able to get a run on him going into 5 but couldn't hold the position on exit as he was quicker off the corner, same story next lap, then he nearly lost it getting onto the front and I was determined at this point to seal this deal, I got another run going into T5 and made it stick. Had a couple of heart attacks with cars allowing me to pass LOL, all in all it was a great race with a awesome field of competitors with sportsmanship displayed like nowhere else, Well Done All.

Grats To Craig for his great win. Grats to Steve for driving from the back all the way up to the poduim.

I have no idea where I came yet. I had to be on another race Qualify with 4mins to go, and 1.2 laps left in this race. That was going to JUST work out ok. The rest of the race was going to be about 1min55secs and just enough time to finish and leave.

A few things happening through the race but in the ending laps I was 3rd with a few seconds back to Steve, but he was hunting me down and narrowed it down to about 2secs or so back, but I could just keep him at bay each lap so it was somewhat safe that I would hold out 3rd.
Though then a slip on that 2nd last lap meant he got it down to a 1.0 sec gap.

Then I caught a lapped car coming to the last fast left kink. As I ran down the straight leading into it I could see him and I was gaining fast so I figured he must have had blue flags for a while already and would hopefully back off down that straight and Steve and I could just zoom on through.
But he didn't and all I could do was catch right up to him just before the kink. The perfect time to catch a car.... NOT.

I couldn't afford to slow down much because of Steve behind, though I was going to have to. Except I could not see the corner because of the car ahead and I turned in too early and bounced/skated off the curbing out of control. And of course it just had to fling down the LEFT side instead of the sliding out right and then careered into a wall or tire barrier and destroyed the car.

3rd or 4th was assured up till then and it would have been an interesting battle to see whether Steve or I would do the best flawless lap to the finish!
But not to be....

Hmm. Launched it off one of those silly wall ramps, severely damaging my suspension. I tried to limp back to the pits to sit it out, but the steering was doing its own thing and I just couldn't keep it under control. Bad showing for SoCal. :\

Well, this race goes to prove that some nights are just off. After specifically practicing with full race fuel, I was well aware that I should NOT push it the first five laps. My times through practice constantly showed that, the tires (or me) only got enough heat after a handful. So what do I do? I push super hard and spin, not once but TWICE in the first few laps! Once I ended up in a spectator area and stopped for a cup of tea for pete's sakes. After my last spin I was dead last and had to play catch up. A BIG thaks to Ray Gillespie who, over TS, told me to relax basically and I would be allright. It worked magic for my psyche because then I got in the groove. Passed my wonderful teammates Bob & Gregg (great job guys by the way, you both will soon be kicking my rear in these cars) and then I set on chasing my good friend Joe DiPino. We had a good battle until the second to last lap when, under his tail, I lost it as I was trail braking in Stowe-- the third and final idiocity of the night. What a competitive field. However I am half thinking, now that my championship is over, in running the Alfa in the remaining races, or join Ray in the Fitticrappi.
