Mosport Challenge

First race here at Race2Play.com and pretty much a first 'proper' race with rFactor. Car felt stable during practice and I was running consistently. Only got one lap in for qualifying due to technical issues but I never was really going to contend in qualifying.

The race got off fairly smoothly, nice and clean. Though as clean as it was, the car wasn't handling good at all and very unstable, turned it around on a few occasions but before I got laps in, I was pretty far behind and really had no chance of making up the lost ground.

Happy to just have made it to the end of the race in one piece.

Very fun race.

Qual: Only did one lap because I ran off the track on the second lap. Was ok with starting 12th (7th in class).

Race: Started off pretty good. Was picking through the ZR cars pretty good. I got off track a couple of times but only hit the wall once and it was not that bad. Very pleased with finishing 5th in class.

First of all appologies to Bill for sending him offtrack, I tried braking and keeping my line but it was too late for that and the car went sliding...

Joseph, sorry for getting back on track in front of you, you seemed to be far in my mirrors, I estimated it wrong.

Frustrating race for me... qual'ed 4th and kept 4th until someone spun me in Moss, then started making mistakes of my own and went back until 9th, then gradually recovered back to 4th only to lose it at Moss on the last lap, then on the straight once again, and finished 9th in smoke because of a locked tire... Other than that, great race.

Too many mistakes on my part. Need to clean it up for next time.

Some new names out there today, WELCOME! This is a great series I hope you all had fun and continue to race with us.

My first win @ R2P. A win that was a long time coming. I had to use Tim's setup as my setup got tweaked to uselessness. Drove a couple a laps before qual and seemed comfortable enough for me to drive. Tried to get a decent lap for qual but made a mistake trying to get around a slower car. I had just enough time to get P3. Race started good. I still was getting use to the setup with a full race load. I fully expected to finish third but Rob spun out on turn four then Michael wide on another turn. Micheal definately had the faster car. I expected to be a battle all the way to the finish but I never saw him.

On a whim I decided to sign up for this race the morning of. I'd never driven these cars, so I had a real challenge ahead of me. Discovered that I really like the ZR. I wasn't enormously fast (I never am), but I knew I could at least enjoy running here. I made the safest setup I could... one that wouldn't surprise me, and it paid off. Qualy'd very far back, but hadn't expected better. The setup was for consistency rather than speed. And it paid off. Apart from a couple self spins (mental errors entirely), I drove one of the smoothest races I've ever had. No contact anywhere! My only regret was that I hadn't worked out tire wear better. I incinerated my LF constantly, and eventually it led to my second spin (well, just an off that got squirrely once in the grass). In the end, though, I ended up 5th in class and 12th overall. Far better than I would have expected after just an hour or so of first time testing/practice in the ZR. Of course, most of that gain came because of attrition, rather than superior driving on my part. In the end, my goal of consistency paid off as risk taking for position would have cracked my car for sure.
