GTC76 Magny-Cours

So-so...

Qual was avarage for me. Didn't practice this car much.

Start was a bit lame. Few cars passed me and I got bumped in the hairpin. Was nearly last... Had some fun passing 2 cars at once. In the next half of the race Tom was following me in the 911. In the last lap we were few meters apart. He took me on the main straight but I got him back after the hairpin. Than again, he took my place in the last turn >.<! Was very fun though :)

At least I earned quite some points.

Grats to podium

Crazy race. Qual was crap because I hadnt practiced, loaded the wrong setup, got caught in traffic... argh, it was a mess. So I was happy with 2nd.
Off the line I couldn't hear my own bloody engine, and promptly span off my grid stall. Somehow I avoided the wall and all my competitiors, but was facing the wrong way and had to basically start from last. What a wally.
The first lap was interesting. Got from last to 9th, getting through a wrecked pack at the hairpin then a soon-to-be-wrecked pack through the rest of the lap! Lots of fun though.
On lap two I touched David Ulmer into a spin in 180. I was just taking my normal line when I found myself on his inside half way round the corner. I tried to follow through, but he squeezed me right down over the curb and eventually I had nowhere to go. Sorry!
After that I got in a great battle with Oleg and Roberto for 3rd, took me about 5 laps to pick my way through them and pull away, lots and lots of fun. At that point Andre in 2nd was 16 seconds ahead so I just settled for 3rd and put in some strong laptimes, but Andre had an off which eventually brought him right to me. Took me 3 laps to make the move on the monstrous Pantera, but I made it stick in the end with about 5 to go. At that point Mark was 8 seconds up the road, so I settled for 2nd, but he wasn't happy with that either! He had an off in Nurburgring which got me right to his exhaust, and we had a meteoric 906 battle for the last few laps! Eventually I made a pass into Lycee, he tried to get me back through the final turn but I held on (admitidly I cut a little, but he had been cutting a lot while I was chasing him, so I'd say we were even), then he got back down my inside and we went through Grande Corbe side-by-side, then he carried a tonne of speed into Estoril trying to cut me off, but he didn't quite have the overlap and I had nowhere to go but into his side, and he went for a play in the sand. A shame for the battle to end like that on the last lap, but I can't say I'm upset with the win! Great racing Roberto, Oleg, Andre and Mark. As someone said on the server: "Who has more fun than us?" Nobody!!! :P

Grats Scott, escpecially after your start spin!
The only bad thing of GTL is the rush switching from qual to race.
My race was constant but slow, especially in the bubble 906, having huge problems with brake balance and too many lock-ups. So I had to go veeeery easy, driving 8/10 sometimes even less and taking care of braking points.
That battle for 3rd after the first laps was very nice!

Gtl is still the best, probably only Power&Glory is better!

Joco, I wont invert you if you wont insult the cheap-o CSL! I love that thing! Came 2nd right here with it in S4 ;-)

And Roberto, I can't beleive your braking was letting you down, you were braking 40 meters later than me into the hairpin every lap! It was scary! :P

This was the most impromptu race I've ever done. The game was having trouble accessing the libraries or something, so I had to reboot my computer. I launched the game as soon as the screen came up and didn't wait for everything to start up, which I think is why the game minimized twice througout the race. I came in without practice at "00.00" on the quali clock. So the first time I was driving was the first lap of the race. Luckily I can put 2 and 2 together because I know this car very well and Magny-Cours is a standard track. I was in 6th by the time all the madness in the hairpin was done, after coming from 18th :o and then my game freakin minimized itself. By the time I got it back up, I was last by at least 8 seconds. I just drove as fast as I could without killing the car or myself and made it back to 9th. When I got there, there was no sign of 8th, which was Joco. I kept my pace as fast as possible and was gaining 1 second a lap on him. I had the gap around 5 seconds when my game minimized yet again and the gap went back up to 10 seconds. Then I really gave it everything I could, turned the fastest lap I had done 6 times in the last 6 laps, and caught Joco with 1 lap left. He was driving hard, after he realized I was there I think, and he went the wide line in T1, so I just stuck my car underneath and drove through. But then I bobbled in the hairpin and he drove alongside, he was a little infront, not all the way yet, but then cut me off :p so I knew what kind of battle this would be. I went inside in the next corner, the left after that little S-curve, but got my nose chopped off a bit again. So I decided it was time to payback and rubbed his bumper coming out of the slow right-hander after the 2nd S-curve, which upset his car a little. So I took advantage of it and went inside. I had better brakes (nothing outbrakes a Porsche but another Porsche!) and went inside. He accepted defeat and we crossed the line nose-to-tail. Good racing Joco :)

Challenging race, messed up my fuel before the race and had to go into the pits twice, to fill up on some petro/tires, but screwed it up and had to go back and a couple spins thrown in for good measure :) Oh well learning experience for sure driving the Porsche 906 for the 1st time. I had fast enough lap times to get a point or two, but maybe next race. Had a good time racing with Bill Johnson, clean good fun. Looking forward to the next round.

I drove the 914 as part of my plan to build up a million rental points and sell them on eBay. It's fun as hell to drive, but there wasn't anyone to race with after the first few laps. I feel like I got the most out of the car though.

Enjoyed my first race with you guys very much, found the standard of driving impressive. I think Mike Waltz and I would have had a good battle if we'd been nearer each other: we were lapping at near-identical lap times, I was between 18 and 20 seconds behind him lap after lap, but spinning on the 2nd lap meant a pretty lonely race for both of us.

Hope to see you all at Hockenheim, my "home circuit", in two weeks.

Well that was a foul morning...

Alarm didn't go off - was woken up by my son crashing about in his room. Look at the clock and it's 8:19am. Missed practice, Qualifying is nearly done. Jam my contacts in my eyes a hurl myself down the stairs.

Due to the wonders of Starforce, when I start any SimBin game, it will only use one half of my processor. Although the games aren't official optimized for dual-thread, I find my processor heats up really bad, and the game experiences heavy twitching, if I don't manually assign affinity for the game to both processor threads. Stupid starforce.

So I start the game. log into the qualifying, and attempt to Alt-Tab to the desktop to set the processor. Wouldn't work. It simply would not go to the desktop. Suddenly, the screen says, 'next session' Holy crap, we're racing! No practice, no qualifying run...dang. Load up my setup and out onto the track.

Start is ok - pass quite a few folk due to the Pantera grunt. First hairpin, and I turn in only to see a weird twitching mass of cars looking like nothing so much as a ball of writhing worms. Lag, processor issues already, who knows. Ugly. I'm finding my car is behaving horribly at this time - not turning well, plowing and over-steering like mad.

Second lap, and a got a little help from behind with a nice panorama of the track, ending with me in the agriculture. Jump back out on track and gain a few positions back. A few laps later, heading into Estoril, I find a BMW that I'm likely to run over at my current rate. Got excited and stabbed the brake, and headed off into the dirt again. Not a good morning so far.

After running down a bunch of cars for the third time, I enter the chicane before the front straight, and the world goes to hell. Just one good twitch of the screen that seems to last an eternity (but is likely only a couple tenths of a second) and I find my car pointed straight at the barrier. Smacked it nose first, broke my suspension, cursed a blue streak, and exited. Only to find that I had loaded DU_Vette_Friday setup, rather than DU_Pantera_Friday.

I went back to bed.

I had to leave the server minutes before the race, cause my dog was having babys...kkkk..Know i have 4 small rotwaillers.
