GTC76 Nurburgring

Bah, of course I should have read the R2P cardinal rules, but having driven GTL for a while online in several series, I'm used to relying on the games interpretation of allowable racing lines, so when I got a warning from the server I was furious.

Couldn't calm down and concentrate on the race, too busy seething. So I kept spinning and quit out.

I don't know how you can race to the white line rules on tracks like Dijon, Imola and Zolder, rather than rely on the game's hard-coded cut detection.

Don't think I can be bothered to relearn all my lines through chicanes etc, may not bother again.

I could've ran a faster timing in qual but it was 0.6s ahead of David, also in the 914 so I guess it was ok :p

Start was so-so. David went by me and abit later I was bumped, which resulted into INVERTING! This has happened just too many times in this game engine but still, it didn't effect the final result really. Had fun catching up with David and took him in about half the race. After that it was just sailing to the finish...

I had so much fun for the whole half-race that a was in, battling with Panteras and 911s, then, when I finnaly got 4th place my connection said good-bye to the race. What a shame, I started to love those CSL, very stable and predictable car, just like Pantera, but several seconds slower.

I suppose it was fine for a rental-points race, but I'd prefer to run somewhere around my best time during the race rather than a couple of seconds off-pace.

Just couldn't 'get in' my car this morning. Late night combined with 8am race time I guess. Mind wandering everywhere

"Come on - focus. Think about each tire in the corner. Ok...front right...hmmm. Fronts don't really seem to get up to race temp - maybe I should push into the corner a bit more - but that probably means a setup change to compens.....AW CRAP! ."

Mixed fortunes here. I doddled off at the start of qualifying to have a smoke & P to come back and find that I only had 5 minutes remaining to get a time logged. Surely, we did not have the alloted 15 minutes there. As a result, I started way back from what I'd hoped.

Got a ripper of a start to vault past half the field going into T1. Gentley nudged a 911 that was chopped by another car but the Porsche saved it. Andre in the 906 wasn't so lucky. He ran alongside me on the left and for T2, arced rather sharply to the right to set up for the corner. Can't imagine that he didn't see me, frankly. He kissed my LF wing and spun across my nose. Too bad, Andre, but that wasn't my fault.

Settled into P4 nicely til Mark charged up and snookered me on the inside for T3. I really should have covered that opportunity better but I suppose his pass somewhere, sometime was inevitable.

Steve departed after his mis-adventures to place me back in P4 but with Oleg, Phil, Gasper and a resurgent Andre sizing me up, life was anything but comfy. Still, by using the Pantera's power, I was able to hold everyone off. That is til Gasper knerfed me off in T1 and all those pursuers were by and away. Gasper...you'll have to stop watching the BTCC, OK?

A mere mile down the road and Gasper layed the fender onto to Phil to spin him and I did a sympathy revolution when I bounced the kerb. Just by luck, I recovered in front of Phil and was able to hold him by race's end for a P6 placing. Fair only...considering that it was shaping up to be P4 with only a handful of laps to run.

PS: Forgot to mention the good dice with Oleg. Constantly threatening me, I was able to hold sway until suddenly, Oleg was gone. A couple of seconds behind, I could only see a 906 in my mirror, iirc. Too bad for Oleg. That is until I swept just ever so slightly wide at T3 a half lap later and got a shocker when Oleg suddenly appeared out of nowhere going by on my left. Yikes! Wherever did he come from? Shortly, he vanished altogether and I was very concerned that he'd suddenly pop back into the game directly in my path. Most unfortuneate, Oleg. :(

Qualifying:
Got a pole so that's obviously good stuff, wasn't satisfied with the lap however.

Race:
I knew I will be a sitting duck on the start. Steve and Kevin just flew away, I did menage to take Kevin's position away in turn 2.

Spend 6 laps behind Steve trying to find a way, and although I was faster around 1.5 s per lap every time I got side by side on the corner exit there was no chance for me to finish the pass, Pantera just has too much grunt, and by the time we reached next braking point Steve was already sufficient meters ahead of me.

I was ahead in lap 4 actually, but felt it wasn't a fair pass as I cut it over the chicane, although it was an avoiding act when Steve outbraked himself and then slowed down very much not to cut the chicane, therefore I let him through on the straight. Now that I think of it maybe I should have stayed ahead.

By the end of lap 6 Steve spun and I was on my way. Increased a lead quickly. By mid race I had pretty solid lead, so solid that I was able to spin twice and skate off track 2 more times and still finish ahead. :)

2 in a row feels good, although low attendance is a shame, especially seeing 44 people so far drove this season.

Good race, but left with some bad taste...

I was 6th on the qualy (congrats to Enis for his 2:13.0). On the first corner Tadej pushed me so a lost a couple of places and then he pushed me again on lap 2 and I lost a couple more. Then I started to drive very constant and I climbed up the grid to fifth place. There was a great battle between me, Andre, Donnie and Phil. Everyone of us had a different car so it was even more interesting. But after a couple of laps I hit Donnie from behind and then in the same lap I also hit Phil. Both of them spun and Andre drove away. I swear it was not on purpose and I did everything to avoid the contact.

So, first of all, congrats to Enis. His driving and his lap times were quite incredible. Both of 914s also did a fantastic job. I am glad that I managed to qualify pretty high and make very constant lap times through the whole race. My car did well (I just love Capri) and tires made it through the race. But as a said before, my two contacts at the end of the race left some bad taste. Again, I am sorry for that and I take full responsibility. I also apply to the stewards to put me behind Donnie and Phil.

Don't worry Gasper, I was sure it wasn't deliberate and they were just racing accidents. I did think you should have let Donnie and myself pass you, then we could all have resumed our great battle together, but it was a great race anyway and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
