The IGR Spa 400k

Must practice more with rain, had no idea what tires to choose and how long would they last. Chose inters, and later realized they weren't very fast and didn't last long to. Soon i was last, on track, but i decided to finish the race but i lost my connection with about 13 laps to go.
Looking at the final score i see i wouldn't gain any position because no one quited and my gap for the next player was too big, so, having a DNF changes anything in my rank calculation?

Man these nGT cars are tough beasts to handle for 2+ hours, especially in the wet around the daunting Spa with no perfect tyre!!!

Phew, where to start... well, I didn't bother practicing because I'd spent all day doing outlaps in the RSR trying to perfect my graphics card settings, so to be honest I was a bit bored of the car before the race even started! Quali was, as usual, a disaster, my soft rears melted on the outlap thanks to the obsurd temperatures... then it rained in warmup! Of course the track wasn't actually wet, so that meant that tyre choice was between inters and hard wets... I flipped a mental coin and decided that hards would be best because they work in a wider range of conditions. Turns out they were slightly the wrong choice... they were nice and quick for the first 10 laps, but dropped off almost 5 seconds a lap by 50 minutes into the stint.
Anyway, Marko got held up out of Eau Rouge on lap one by a Lambo (for some reason Marko had decided to start right up the chuffs of the GT cars), which alowed me into the lead. I kept that lead for probably about 10 laps before Marko got through. He held the lead at around 8 seconds for most of the rest of the stint, until he had a spin which put me in the lead. At this point my hard wets were ruined so I pitted as early as possible, filled the tank and put on inters, which never really came up to temperature, but they were nice and consistent so over the course of the 75 minute stint I drove to the end I think they were the better choice.
Marko managed to do some hot laps after our pitstops (presumably sticking with hard wets for the whole race) while I was on stone cold inters, but just as he caught me he went off and nailed the wall at poughon... I assume thats roughly the same time his wets went China Syndrome on him and he pretty much just fell away from there, leaving me with the win.

Fun stuff, but man these cars are tough for 2 hours...

Had a feeling that the race could get wet before I entered the server, so did 10 mins of running in the wet offline. I should have done more...

Can't believe how difficult a Ferrari is to drive in the wet with it's short wheelbase and challenging powercurve. The margin for error was incredibly small.

Made a ton of small mistakes and was lucky to finish 4th. Glad to finish at all.

Hope I never see rain again.

Race
Horrible wet conditions confusing me more then I expected.
When Claus spunned on the last corner (formation lap) I take the lead and things looks solid good.
But my soft wet tyres sudden started to overheat baddly probably due my unchanged dry setup used for this wet one. 2-3 secs slower laps back me to 3rd. place before first stops when I changed to hard wets, situation was a little better but still I was not been fast enough, in last stop I changed to intermediums and that suited better, but George and Claus were gone ahead.
As usually I stucked during lapping nGT's and losing too much time there. At the end my first full wet race ended in podium and I should be satisfied.
Congrats Claus and George, superb drive.
Grats to Scott who wins and Marko who take the nGT title.
Now, we could celebrate our double titles :), cheers.

I was a few tenths away from my PB in quali but that only got me 5th on the grid. Then the rain came. Decisiontime and I went for intermediates. They felt ok from the beginning and I stuck with them the whole race. The start was great. Claus wanted to have a better look at La Source :-), one car lost it in Eau Rouge and I managed to pass into 2nd at Kemmel with only Milan in front of me. It took me almost the whole first stint to reel him in and in the meantime Claus was making a superb comeback. Finally Milan made a small mistake in Busstop which gave me 1st for a while. After the stop I was always between 15 and 20 secs behind Claus. I also had 3 major freezeframes, but luckily the game came back on after a few seconds. But all three made my hart skip a beat. All in all I'm very happy with 2nd place in the end and 3rd in the overall. Grats to Claus on the win and to Milan on winning the GT class of GT-O. I enjoyed racing with you this season Milan. Cya next time.

What a baptism of fire that was!!.

Only had GTR2 just over a week, so this was to be my first GTR2 race here at R2P. Was very happy with my times during practice, was mostly in the 2.21/22 range.

Qualiy went ok, never got the perfect lap in but it wouldn't have made a difference if I did, cause I would have needed a PB to get any higher than 3rd. But 3rd (NGT) would do me :).

Then of course warm up came, and along with it came the rain. Not really driven this in the wet apart from a couple of laps to have a look at the cool rain effects, so I wasn't best prepared. Quickly threw some inters on and made my way to the grid.

Got underway and it was soon apparent I had no chance in hell of running with Scott and Marko. I tried but I was just too slow. So from then on I was just watching the gap to 4th place which luckily for me never really became a problem. Then with around 10 laps to go Ricardo had his disco which guaranteed me the 3rd place.

I did get a bit of a wake up call when I got lapped by a Saleen. I slowed for it to pass me, then about 10 seconds later up the road it was parked on the apex of the fast left hander before the bus stop. Didn't see it till late but luckily I was just able to miss it, and I narrowly avoided ploughing into the tyre wall while doing the evasive manoover.

Also sorry to Milan if I held you up everytime you came up to lap me. For some reason my PC never drew your car. I heard it, I saw the spray and the tyre marks but I never saw the car shape. Took me a couple of times to work out what was happening, and I think we touched on one occasion. Hope I didn't mess you up too much. Once I'd worked out what was happening I got well out of the way when I saw a wall of spray coming up behind me :).

Grats to everyone who finished, it was damn tricky out their in the Spa weather :).

I saw you drive like you did not see me, another weird thing in GTR2.

Maybe it was because I re-appear on the starting grid on last moments due (stupid decission) changed tyres to soft wet in last moments.

Anyways.. Congratulations to Milan and Marko for the championships ,both well deserved.

My race started well... :S went for a 'nap' before the race and woke up just when the qualifying had started. Didn't even bother to try a lap , just got myself a sandwich and something to drink before the start.

Wet race was another question mark but the tire choice and the adjustments to setup felt good on the opening lap , fun didn't last long thou and after half a lap everybody just disappeared .

Looks like my connection went down momentarily but that was enough to end the race. Just great , 3rd DNF of the season only in this series , not to mention other ones... Damn i would have wanted to do this one , even practiced some before the race and car felt fine... :|

Thanks for the season ,has been a learning experience to be on the nGT class and i've enjoyed the ride.

Marko had some reliability problems early on and it was looking good for me at that point but then i got my share of bad luck and things went downhill on the last couple of races. Thats on-line motor racing , little different probs than in real life but just as annoying... LOL ;)

Congratulations to CJ for taking the GT race win , as well as Scott for taking the nGT win.

Hopefully we will see some multi-class racing at some form in next season too , thx all for this one... cya in track ;) .

Qual went good ,as it was dry :)
Probably I would improve my time in second lap by 1sec , but my tires was gone due to unrealistic heat out there!
I was ready and set for dry race , and full high pace tempo , but rain.....

The truth is that I had a rain race at Spa last time in SC race , but conditions were much different(more realistic).
Did I very big mistake at the beginning putting all wet soft tires :( From there on it was no turning back.Pit entry in Spa is a long one , so there was no chance to go in and just take some new tires.

As I sad , softs were gone about 14laps , and I had to do
more than 10 laps ,if I wanted to do a 1pit race.
Tire wear on the rear was above 40 , and always oversteer ,corrections and so on.

After the box , I put hard wet on the rear , thinking that would be a good choice , but... heh it laster 5more laps.
Still I dropped Scott's advantage of 10 sec in first stint(when my tires went dead) and closed to him easily , and just trying to watch for fuel.
Than I don't know why I made a mistake , and damaged my car ,from there on it was over.

This rain weather is much different , what I used to.Bad tire choice at the start cost me a win.

Too bad Samuel for that ISP problem , when I saw that you are gone , I was thinking to quit the race too.

Tricky stuff with a bit wet for so many laps, needed 100% concentration all the time, still puzzled as to why I spun out of the last corner, maybe it was concentration or maybe tires were still too cold even if I was being gentle on the throttle it just still let go, luckily I ended off the racing line or wouldve been a real clusterfuck as the whole field rounded La Source. Waited for a little gap so I could reverse the needed 20cm and get goin again.
After catching the GT field again it was very hard to get by cars, best chance seemed to be to get a good slingshot out of Blanchemont and then nail them under braking for the Bus Stop and that worked since the grip inside was pretty good. Ofcoz was helped alot by cars spinning off on their own giving a free spot, and George being held up by Milan enabled me to somehow be close before the pitstop. George pitted a few laps later and as he negioated the exit I could take the lead, and hold on to it by not taking too many risk and making silly mistakes.
