Nurburg 350k

Disco with some 45 minutes left of the race. This was my second and last S6 GT-I attempt - two discos and no talent. Good luck all!

Not a bad event, I used the 2 stop strategy because thats about the only choice I had, lost by less than the stop cost me but oh well thats the way it goes.

Some of the newer GT guys were crazy dive bombing and re-entering horribly and a shout out to a particular BMW driver that insisted on racing the lead G2 car while being lapped VERY POOR SPRTSMANSHIP!

A very cool race, classic GT-I!

I did a few hours of practice for this one, which is more than usual, and it payed off, because I felt totally prepared coming into the race. Which is why wet qualifying sucked!!! My FPS was about 25 for the whole session, and I only got one good lap, which was good enough for 3rd behind Janko and Kent, but with a bunch of GTs inbetween.
The race start was certainly interesting! Took Garret and Enis in their GT cars a few corners to get through, but after a few laps it was back to me, Janko and Kent together. I was able to up my pace and Kent graciously let me through, and I hunted down Janko. As soon as I got there though, my tyres went off, and pretty quickly me and Janko fell back towards Kent, who quickly took us both. This frightened me a little, until Kent pitted about 45 minutes in, so he must have been on a 2 stopper. Me and Janko continued our battle without him, but I had a quick spin just before the pitstops. Janko pitted early (about 55 minutes) and I pitted late (about 70 minutes), and this was to decide the race. I had lost a lot of time staying out on old tyres for the extra 15 minutes, but the extra pace I had from fresher tyres was enough to close in the 16 second gap Janko had, and pass him almost straight away into turn 1. From there, I just cruised away from him, and took my 2nd GT-I victory :D

It was a great race, and I must say this track is superb for endurance racing. It felt busy, but there was always space to make room for GT cars, and they weren't much faster anyway so holding them up for a corner or two wasnt a big deal (unless it was Joco, who managed to spin while trying to pass me and almost take me with him with 3 minutes to go!!!). Congrats to Pete for the GT win, and to Sam for his best ever GT-I result in a difficult race for him.

Quali wasn't too bad. Was -0,6 in the last lap but the session was over just before the last turn. First stint was ok but I couldn't keep up with Allen and the rest in front. Second stint was rather lonely but in the 3rd I met Allen again and we had some chasing again for a few laps until I went a bit too wide trying to safely pass Kent. So 9th in the end was my share. Don't think there was much more in it for me. Grats to the guys who made it to the podiums.

I'm not sure whether Mr Welker is referring to yours truly but I had a disco which means that for a while, before losing the connection for good, I knew fuck all what perhaps happened around me.

Well I finally got the pit stops to work. Thanks for all the advice. Turns out I wasn't doing anything wrong, it's just a bug as Claus and some others noted.

What a race... great track... Qual in went was perfect for me... i like wet qual :P

About my race: Scott has alrealy wrote all about it :P That early pit ment my tires were gone by the time i was out of traffic in 2nd stint... I knew it will be hard to get 1st place after seeing Scotts pace... and sure it was.. I didnt expect him to overtake me from that far back in T1... a great overtaking... i was like :O when i saw him infront,... could of made it out of that turn a bit better and give him a fight for 2 more corners but on rear tires beeing worn so much they just spinned and my car went nowhere :P. 2nd place not bad... Scott is just crazy these days anyway :)

Grats to Scott for a great pace, kent for fighting us with his handicaped car and also to GT guys, it was great letting u through :)

Qualifying:
Disastrous. Chose wrong tires, had to pit, then on my way to do decent lap, I lost it exiting last corner, lost me few seconds there. P15.

Race:
FRUSTRATION, FRUSTRATION, FRUSTRATION!

By the 3rd stint I was so disheartened by the lack of speed in Maserati (not that being swept of line very early in the race helped either), that I just couldn't care less where I would finish, or how far back would I be. I just couldn't care less to drive clean lines any more, nor to be consistent to any degree.

Wet Quali sucked, I had good race pace but just gave myself to much to do from quali. Apologies to Bob who caught me totally by surprise when he braked, I tagged his backside and sent him off, my apologies m8. Had some great scraps during the race but 2 mistakes cost me dearly. Grats to podiums.

I had the same attitude as Enis, but couldn't be bothered to waste two hours of my Saturday running laps for the hell of it. I pulled it over into the pits and left.

I'm reevaluating my participation (and worthiness) in this series, simply because time is short and I'll rather spend my days concentrating on things that currently interest me.
