Euro MC: Silverstone

Congrats to the podium.

I couldn't do much more in this race, 'cause I punted sb in first lap (sorry for that, luckily he kept on track and maintained position) so I had to go for a drive-thru, I think I was the only one who had to do this for a punt in lap 1. My mistake was that instead of a drive-thru I made a full pitstop, missing 34 secs + pit entry/exit.

When I reentered the track I knew I was gonna be overlapped in no time, and my second mistake was to overlook at the mirrors more than often to let the coming drivers go by easily, making me go offroad a couple of times. I scaled some spots, but only thanks to other drivers mistakes or DNFs. I hope to do better next time.

Joined the race at a 'Late Entry', so was unsure of the practice times. Qualified 13th, and weaved through the lap 1 incidents, to find myself in the top 10. A few laps later I'd climbed to 8th, and felt comfortable with a 3 sec gap to 9th, and 1 sec from P8. Then suffered a disconnect, which was really frustrating.

At least I wasn't chasing any points, as it was my first Megane Cup event. Pleased to be on the pace for a top 10, but gutted to suffer the disco.

Had a decent race and was on the pace to have a race for a podium but ran it on the grass out of the right hand hairpin.

Spent the rest of the race gaining back 4 places and chipping away at the gap between myself and Roberto. The gap came down but not fast enough.

Don't look at my finishing position and think it tells the story of my race. This wasn't another 'slow as sin' outing like FBMW last week.

This time I had a reasonably good setup, and spent the first five laps locked in nose-to-tail racing with a whole bunch of cars from around 10th to 16th. It was fantastic fun.

Then, exiting Bridge at full pelt on the sixth lap, there was a car stationary on the racing line at Priory. Alas, I hit him, which gave me quite a bit of suspension damage. That dropped me to the back of that pack, and put me out of contention for the Top 10 I had my sights on.

Took me a couple of laps to get used to the car - it was pulling so much to the side, it was like driving a VH2 NR2003 setup! After that, it was just a case of bringing it home, damaged, and off the pace. Still, under the circumstances, I'm happy to continue my run of no DNFs.

Oh my,

Was very surprised to find myself second in qualiy behind Milan. Got the time on my first flying lap, and I was sure someone was going to go faster but they never did. The nerves began to build :s.

I knew I was going to be in with a chance at getting to T1 first, as my starts are probably my strongest point. But as it was the first time I've lined up with Milan I didn't know what to expect. As I rolled up to the start box, the nerves built up abit more :s.

The Greens came on and I found myself in the lead going into T1 with Milan right behind me. Pretty safe to say I was a bag of nerves at this point, I would never make a professional racing driver :). My first lap was pretty slow so due to that Milan had his hands full too, so I was able to keep the lead. On lap 3 there was a bit of a fight going on between Milan, Roberto and Sam so this gave me abit of breathing room but only a couple of seconds so I knew Milan would soon be on me again.

Tried to use this time to calm down a bit and it seemed to work, I was able to push abit more and pick up the pace. It took Milan abit longer than I thought to get back on my bootlid, but by Lap 10 sure enough he was close enough to sell me abit of a dummy in T1 but I stuck to my line. Once again the nerves where back with a vengence :s.

On Lap 12 Milan went down the inside of the slow right hander at the back of the circuit and got past, but he ran alittle wide so I was able to get back on the power and repass him. Phew that's one less corner to worry about.

Lap 13 though and my dream comes to an end, pretty much like Englands footie Team. Again Milan gets a run down the back straight and goes down the inside of the right hander, but this time he keeps it stuck to the curb and doesn't run wide. I got on the power as soon as I could and hoped I had a chance of getting slightly better drive out of the corner, but unfortunately I got the opposite.

Exiting the corner my front wheels where about level with Milans, plan was to stay alongside him forcing him to take a tighter line through the next right hander. Didn't work out like that though. as we were driving out of the right hander my left wheels got on the grass pointing me towards the wall. Desperately tried to keep it straight and out of the wall, but I hit the wall ripping the front spoiler off and knocking the steering out.

Rejoined still in 2nd but with dodgy steering Jan got by 2 corners later, followed by Roberto and Dave R after I spun in T1 down to 5th I went. Got going again and looked at the gaps, and I was pleased to see I had about 8 seconds on Steffen with 3 laps to go so I figured I was in with a shout of finishing in the top 5 which is what I did. At this point I was the calmest I had been all race :D.

Bit gutted in a way. I knew I was never going to win but I was hoping I would get 2nd but I guess it wasn't meant to happen :). Was happy to mix it with the big boys up front and get the chance to lead a R2P race, but I must admit I've done more laps here in the Meganes than any other car or track, so if I was going to do it, it would have been here.

Was a very intense race in first 13 laps, first Roberto did small mistake and I regain 2nd. and as Kieron said then we had a battle for lead until lap 13. when Kieron unfortunately spunned behind me after my successful pass.

After loosing all my setups and in game settings due to unplanned format I lost any motivation for the end of this R2P season.
Sims and wheel seem all another things than before, undriveable and unstable :(
